Fraud Alert?

Hey Guys, I have an offer for my item from this account. I thought it was legit then I saw that a lot of the feedback was the same/similar. What do you think, is it a scam?

Re: Fraud Alert?

Most of those are responses that are already in the feedback menu.  I use the "Good buyer, prompt payment..." one all the time.

Re: Fraud Alert?

I see. I am just a bit concerned about the ton of responses so quick and the most recent one saying money was never received. Looks to me like it was a ton of bot/scam accounts trying to fly the rating up, but i could be wrong. The delivery location is in Massachusetts while it says location of Australia. Also concerns me

"The delivery location is in Massachusetts while it says location of Australia. "

Why is the offer platform in Spanish?

Re: Fraud Alert?

As explained, many sellers use the same wording for Feedback. That one is eBay boilerplate. I use one that automatically fills, but I wrote it myself.
And actually there is a fair bit of variation, but sometimes the seller seems to have done a batch all at once.

The delivery location is in Massachusetts while it says location of Australia.

Buyer is probably using a freight forwarder.

Use Google Maps to look at the address. It's very likely in an industrial park or strip mall and show the business name.

Freight forwarders are the second safest addresses you can ship to, because once delivered to the forwarder, the buyer no longer qualifies for most of the Money Back Guarantee.

One minor problem you don't realize.

Your buyer is probably using a non-US credit card or payment processor.

That means your fees will be 30c (as always) plus 4.4% of total, including sales taxes (Australian VAT).

If you sold to a domestic customer your fees on the payment would be 30c plus 2.9% of total, including Internet (state) sales taxes from the buyer's state.

I don't know if it's a scammer but if you have doubts follow your instincts.

You can just let the auction run it's course- the offer may be to prevent the bidding from going higher than the opening bid amount.

You have six days to get higher bids.

Re: Fraud Alert?

Hmm.  I don't think we are supposed to post other users' account info.  You could have described your concerns with 10% of the feedback examples without outing another account so publicly.

Beside that you have zero feedback and are listing to the world?  Regardless of whether this particular account is a problem you will be scammed every day as a new seller if you sell shoes internationally before knowing how to use this forum.

It wouldn't surprise me if you have been reported for showing the other account's identity already.  THAT's what I would be worried about if I were you.

Re: Fraud Alert?

Australian Sales Tax is GST (VAT is the UK)

As an AUstralian we normally request USPS or GSP if the seller offers it, but check the address to see if it is infact a freight forwarder as femmefan suggested. I can never understand a buyer who uses a FF and then doesn't name them in the address which would make life a lot easier for all concerned.

Re: Fraud Alert?

Another reason you may want to not accept the offer; you don't offer international sales-USA only, so for that reason you may not want to get into a potentially messy situation.
