I'm in a pickle. Buyer came to my home, reviewed item for 3 hours then choose to pay. The buyer took apart the $3000 commercial printer to put in his car. He broke a piece off. He had it a week and claimed it wasn't as described.
CSR stated I should not offer return, that they believed it was fraudulent return request and to not respond. I received email stating buyer was granted a refund and could keep the item, as I didn't send a shipping label.
Now I'm out the item and the money and the appeal was declined in the buyers favor. How???

That is crazy if true...giving false/bad advice because they literally don't know is one thing but to actively instruct a buyer OR seller to fraudulently get around policies is quite another...

amazing isn't much better. While I haven't had a problem with an order from a seller there that hasn't been resolved amazing themselves have been charging us for two subscriptions when we only have one. Customer service is no help and hangs up or ends chat every time and cancelling your account is non existent..either it says you did but it didn't or sends you into an endless loop. We were not "amazed" with our experience and just want it gone!

I am so sorry this happened to you. It is clear that you received some very bad information from the Ebay CSR that you spoke with that led you to make some incorrect decisions based on what they told you.
I'm going to tag this post to see if we can get some attention to your problem from someone that can help. They won't be back to work until Monday. But maybe they can help get you to the right person to help with this issue.
Ebay does have the ability to listen to that phone call with the CSR as they record all those calls. So if you can remember the exact date and maybe the name of the person you talked to, make sure you share that with whomever you get in contact with at Ebay.
Also, make sure you report this buyer for abusing the return system. Breaking the item themselves because they took it apart wrong and then making you may for it. This too is an important step.

Why are you telling the OP to accept cash only when eBay's payment policy for pickups says you must offer at least one electronic payment method for pickups?
Gone are the days you can demand cash only for local pickups.

Incorrect info by csr's hired by ebay is not a valid excuse. It is business fraud.
Ebay is providing fraudulent service to paying clients asking business questions about their ebay account problems. Ebay knows csr's provide incorrect info to sellers and yet it continues uncorrected by ebay.

Again this is deliberate business fraud on the part of ebay.

Instead of just throwing out a statement with no support because you dislike Ebay for many reasons, support your statement please. If it is "deliberate", then there would be proof of that. Please share.

Hey @mam98031! In this case we recommend that the seller reaches back out to our customer support so they can look into what options they have.

"All pickups should be cash only. Never accept another other payment option. Cash only!"
Bad advice, canceling an electronic payment for a pick up only item would have gotten the op a big, fat, defect to his account.Ive had several PP payments for pick up only items, no problems.

I'm sorry you went through this but I'm glad at least that I can learn from your experience. Thanks for sharing.

There is nothing to indicate this was intentional. There is no reason to suspect fraud. Sometimes, people lilke the CSR say the wrong thing solely because they are uninformed or wrong. On the other hand, the terms "promissory estoppel" and "detrimental reliance" come to mind.
