I had an item that I have been re-listing for a couple of months and it sold tonight. Before Christmas, I had moved all my inventory from the guest bedroom, to the back bedroom and most of my shipping supplies to the basement. I went to retrieve the item from the stack of shelves In the closet I thought I had put it in, and it was not there. I have now torn up both bedrooms, part of the basement and opened every drawer in the house. The item is no where to be found. How do I approach the buyer about this? This has never happened to me in 20 years! I feel awful!

I did the same thing about a year ago. Could not find the necklace I sold ANYWHERE. After 3 days I told the buyer I can't find it and refunded her money. I apologized profusely. A week later I found it so I shipped it to her for free and took a loss for my stupidity.

I have a set of Corelle dinnerware for 8 that I put away for the kids when they move out. I remember thinking when I put it away that I needed to remember since I put it in an odd location.
I've been looking on and off for a year. Hasn't turned up yet.

That was my plan if I hadn’t found it by today. Even though I advertise shipping within three days, I usually ship out the next day, so I am including two matching knives with the three serving pieces that I sold. The buyer may never know why I included them, but I will feel better for the delay in shipping, even though it was just one day.

I love Corelle! I hope you find them!
Just a month ago I finally found the Liddle Kiddles that had been missing for six months. I was so excited! I am wondering if I can use Alexa on the Echo Dot to keep track of my stuff? It’s been great for making grocery lists. As soon as I discover I need something, I just tell Alexa and the list is there, on my phone when I am at the store.

First world problems LOL!
Can't find items in our own houses.

Yes, I'm a hoarder. I come from a long line of hoarders. The keep stuff just in case because we were poor type hoarder, not the dead animals under a pile of stuff hoarder.
However I'm now reading the spark joy book and am intending to get rid of most of the stuff in my house. I've come to the realization that I cannot even keep up with my own inventory, let alone sell my jeans that are two sizes too small.

Maybe the Millennials have the right idea - spending their money on “experiences” instead of stuff. We have too much “stuff”. Lord knows - I’m trying my best to get rid of “stuff” on eBay, but there are times I am just tempted to get a dumpster and trash it all.

I think I need that book! I have so many pair of size 2 high end designer jeans that I will never ever be able to wear again, I get overwhelmed at the thought of photographing them all! Once in awhile I will pull out a few pair and list them, but nobody wants them. I am starting to consider Goodwill.

It's called The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.
The auther feels many people keep too much stuff out of guilt not because they love the items. I have so much clothing I can never find what I want to wear and end up wearing the same few things all the time. I have to remind myself that I got my enjoyment out of the item when I bought it and to let it go. It's not making me happy keeping it because every time I see it I feel bad for spending money.

I have been in this situation as well, but if I let it go for a few hours, it usually comes to me where the item is, I always find it. It is a sinking feeling, it actually happened to me recently. I did find it, thankfully. It lead me to putting my inventory in numbered bins, and putting the bin number in the listing, I don't want to go through that again! It took me about a week to do the new system, but it's working like a charm, so glad I did it.

I think for some people this can happen because of Ebay's phantom relisting. It's gone because it sold a year ago and was shipped then.

I saw a thing on TV that said most people only wear about 20% of the clothes they own. I am thinking in my case, it’s closer to 5%! I moved a lot of the clothing out of the boxes in the basement to the spare bedrooms, thinking I would sell them, but selling almost anything else is easier on eBay. So I end up selling almost everything else and now the bedrooms are cluttered again. It’s also just so hard asking $19.99 for something you paid $300 for and still not seeing it sell. Instead of washing and pressing, taking and editing pictures, researching and writing listings, it just seems easier to donate the items. It’s a hard way to make a few bucks.

That is what I will be doing and I will bask in the glow from knowing that my clothing will be going to people who need clothing instead of sitting in my closet making me sad.

I have heard of that, but thankfully that hasn’t happened to me. I have noticed a glitch on the eBay app that will say an item I just sold has not sold and asks if I want to re-list it. Scary.
