Flaky buyers....

Is anyone else experiencing a higher than normal rate of buyers cancelling sales after auctions?  This past month, over 50% of the time buyers will win an auction then immediately I'll get an email to cancel.  What the hell is going on???  eBay is making it too easy for buyers to just get out of an auction, and as sellers we need to STOP cancelling them so easily....eBay should also change cancellations into Unpaid Item cases. It's getting ridiculous and wasting my time!  I'm seriously consider selling somewhere else - you watching this post eBay????

People change their mind all the time.  When I work my Christmas sales job, I see people buy something, get as far as the door or the parking lot, turn around and want to return it.

fI you do not want to accept returns, then flea markets and yard sales are your only option as all other venues, unless going out of business, accept them.

And if ebay did what you suggested, buyers would not stand for it.

Re: Flaky buyers....

I understand allowing returns and the ability to cancel after winning the bid, but I have never experienced such a high cancellation rate.  It's over 50%.  I have been selling on ebay for 11 years.  This is the most flakiness I have seen in 11 years.  But I agree with what you're saying, they should be allowed to cancel, but it's getting ridiculous.

Re: Flaky buyers....

Maybe it's ebay employees bidding on items to make ebay sales look good.  Then of course they cancel.

Yes. That's probably it.

Of course, when they cancel, there is no completed transaction, so that probably doesn't help sales look good. They probably hadn't thought of that. Curses! Foiled again!

Re: Flaky buyers....

ya it's getting to the point where I am actually surprised when I see payment received after an auction.  I'm usually expecting a cancel request.  Pathetic.

How  would bidding on an item and not paying make ebay look good?
