First Time Seller/First Offer

I am a brand new seller. I posted a vintage watch a couple of weeks ago. Really cool piece. I listed it for $1750. I received my first offer today for $1329. The buyer appears to be from Turkey, and he has no information on his profile. Should I assume this is a scammer?

Re: First Time Seller/First Offer

If its an auction and you end early there will be fees. I would just let it expire without selling at full price. I would take away or best offer option for now if possible. Then start with small things at fixed price and immediate payment required until you get the hang of it. I would not sell worldwide the first few months. Personally i don't sell worldwide at all. Sometimes an item is purchased using a forwarding company and that is usually ok. So far i have never had an issue with a forwarding  company.

Re: First Time Seller/First Offer

There are no fees for ending an auction that has no bids early, which if he received an offer there must not be bids.

@rkm386  I agree with other suggestions to end the listing now, and find a pawn shop or antique dealer locally.

You can click on "View listings" near the OP's ID, to see that the listing in question is not in auction format.

A seller is charged a fee if they end an auction early after it has received bids. There is no fee for ending an auction early if it has not received any bids.

Re: First Time Seller/First Offer

To safely sell that Watch on eBay, you really need to have a significant amount of Feedback as a Seller, AND consider all of the many safety-net advice given by the others who have responded to your query.

Even then, there is still the ability to be the victim of fraud.

If you really do not want to become a frequent Seller on eBay, then consider one of the many options for on-line venues for selling an item "in-person"... such as the Facebook Marketplace & other similar venues.

Or, if you are sure you want to sell that Watch on eBay; do so via eBay's  "Local Pick-up", requiring Cash Money.

Never make the in-person delivery at your home !!
Take only Cash Money from the Buyer, and make your exchange of item for $$ inside your own place of Banking (have a Teller check the $$ for counterfeits), or, inside your local Police Department; and, either way, have a friend along to video the exchange, including the Buyer examining the item & verbalizing acceptance of the item, and you affirming that there cannot be any Return of the item for any reason.
