First Negative Feedback

Hello all!

I received a negative feedback today (my first) - surprised not for shipping delays.   The buyer did not reach out to me before leaving this.

What do I do now?  Respond back?  Ignore it?

Best

Mali

Request to remove feedback
If you feel someone has left you improper feedback, you can send ebay a request to have it removed. eBay will look into it and remove anything that doesn't follow policy.

The buyer does not need to contact you if they are unhappy.  It is imperative that all sellers take responsibility for their packaging to ensure that their items arrive how they were described.

I'm sorry that this has happened.  It is up to you whether you'd like to leave feedback.  If you do, I would suggest not being accusatory. Kindness is always preferable.

Best to you moving forward,

Grandma

Sorry this happened to you.

You'll find buyers RAREY reach out to you before leaving negative feedback.

I don't think this one can/will be removed by ebay.

The best thing to do is reply to this feedback in calm factual manner. Remember, it's future buyers that will be reading it. I would respond with something like this

"If there is a problem with your order, please contact me for a full refund. "

or i like

"You should contact the seller for a resolution before leaving negative feedback."

But some people would say that's too bold.

Good luck. Happy holidays and stay safe!

Hi, based on the feedback the buyer left, it is doubtful eBay will remove it as it doesn't mention shipping delays but rather the quality / condition of the item received.

The only way I see eBay removing the negative feedback is if the buyer sent you messages prior to leaving feedback stating that they were unhappy with the shipping delays without a mention of the quality of the item.

If this is the what happened, then it is possible the negative feedback was made in retaliation because of the shipping delays and the eBay representative reviewing your case can view any relevant messages to aid in making their determination.

There is an old rule of etiquette that essentially says NOT to air your dirty laundry in public.  I once got negative feedback and took care of it through kindness in private email.  The negative dropped off the list after a year.

The buyer did not mention anything about shipping delays. They complained that the item was folded in half and wrinkled so I don't know if getting it removed will work for you. It won't hurt to try. Some sellers manage to get negs removed for any reason.

Or instead of writing "You should contact the seller for a resolution before leaving negative feedback."  I like to send a private email  stating Before you even consider tarnishing my perfect record keep in mind that I know your address.'   Ok, I was joking.  Usually I send a Google Earth snapshot of their roof top with a message about my large drone's carrying capacity for eggs.  lol.  That's not true either but it might help those who habitually leave negative feedback realize that they are not as anonymous as they might think.

Anytime I mail a post card, matchbook cover or a magazine back issue I use a double cardboard backer and have never had the "fold over" complaint happen.  Fingers crossed.

Perhaps you should reach out to the buyer.......... Apologize ?  Thank them for pointing out something that others may not like either?  Figure out how to correct and tell them?  And after all that, in a later email, ask them to revise the feedback ?

Try to take it as a learning experience and move on.  I would be more worried about showing something in the photos that isn't included and state you sell it separately.  I didn't think that was permitted.

@thedyeluxepaper ... From your listing: "Tissue paper, gift tags and bows are not included."

I agree with @fern*wood. It's better than an NAD followed by a neg , no? The first neg does sting a bit, though...

Buyers are not required to rach out before leaving feedback.

As for what to do, IMHO that would depend upon whether the feedback was accurate or not.

Whenever I am altering an item when shipping (rolling, folding, collapsing, disassembling, etc.) I always try to mention this in my listing.

Seems like you got some constructive criticism, too bad it came with a neg.
