Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

Is the Authenticity Guarantee Program only for selected sellers? I look through listings over $500 in fine jewelry and out of 60 listings only 7 had the Authenticity Guarantee designation.

Re: Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

Thank you, that's helpful. But I see a lot of listings that meet those criteria that don't have the Authenticity Guarantee designation.  If you look at the search below you'll see.

Re: Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

I have noticed the same thing!  I am so glad someone else is noticing a lot of jewelry that should qualify somehow is slipping through the cracks. I sell in this category, and essentially anyone listing in jewelry is paying for this service.  I am not sure if sellers are not specifying the gemstone weights, and that is how they are bypassing the system or if the system is just cheating us, but this is not OK.

I looked at over 10 of those listings and ALL had the authenticity guarantee on the listing. Maybe you do not qualify for some reason.

Re: Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

On that page of approximately 240 listings of US sellers, I found about 50 with the authenticity guarantee, less than 25%. I'm sure that some just don't qualify but I found quite a few that met the criteria but did not have the authenticity checkmark.

Re: Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

This program is terrible. I have run of the mill jewelry having to go to the "authenticator" and it sits there for over a week. Customers are **bleep**. I have Cartier, Tiffany, Bvlgary pieces that are not subject to the new program.

Don't know what genius decided to roll this out right before Christmas, they should be fired.

Ebay says gia is overwhelmed with items sent to "authenticator"

Customer should have the option to have it "authenticated" or not.

25 years on ebay selling fine vintage/antique  jewelry to long time customers and now their purchases are getting diverted to some overwhelmed jewelry school graduate to give an opinion on something they have no experience with. 3 day delivery is now 2 week delivery, if the student authenticator approves. ugghhhhh

Meanwhile, ALL jewelry sellers pay higher fees to pay for this no-guarenteed 2-week delivery and authentication we can't trust.  That includes costume.

I watched the finale of the Walking Dead tonight and was left wondering if the zombies didn't have more brains between them than eBay's board.

Re: Fine Jewelry Authenticity Guarantee Program

I was notified today that I was accepted into the authenticity guarantee program for jewelry. I went through the regulations (stipulations?) and I thought I followed them all when I listed a turquoise bracelet for $850 and listed it in eBay's fine jewelry section. However, I didn't receive the blue badge, which they state is automatic. I'm sure I'm to blame, so any suggestions about what I might be missing? I don't know if I'm allowed to leave a link here, so let me know.

This is not something sellers need to be accepted into.

Your item does not qualify. it is turquoise. Have you read through the policy?

If it has a secondary/melee stone (less than 0.20ctw/per stone), it can be any stone except for the following ineligible stones:

  • Amber
  • Jade
  • Opal
  • Pearl
  • Quartz
  • Turquoise
