Finding a user that is not a seller

So is there a trick to find a user that doesn't sell on eBay?  I've tried looking up some users, and I always get the "No Exact Matches Found".  So is there a way to find a user that just buys items???

If you know a buyer's username, you can use the Advanced Search to Find Items by Seller to bring up the buyer's (empty) item listings. From that page you can reach the buyer's feedback or profile page.

Every time I do that I still get the same message. I will give it a try again. Thanks.

I think that strategy might not work any more. When I do an Advanced search on a seller (or buyer) who has no active listing, the page of (zero) search results doesn't contain the member's ID or any link to them.

However, you can add any member's ID to the end of this URL, that will take you to their feedback page where you'll find the "Contact member" link to send them a message.

It appears you are correct -- I just tried using my own username, and was unable to get a page with any usable links. I wonder when that stopped working.

But your link does work if you add a username. Thanks!

If general, if you load a profile page or feedback page of any seller, as long as the username appears in the URL (as opposed to a some sort of obfuscated id number) you should be able to paste over another username you are searching for and load the page.

Please use this for good, not evil:

You're welcome.

I'm just curious - what's your point?

I sell on eBay but I also buy items for my own use (not for resale) - printer ink, new mirrors for my car, etc.

So essentially you would prevent me from buying from you?

Why?

I think before accepting an offer the seller would check their feedback for any pattern of problems. Problem buyer equals not accepting the offer and likely block them.

I missed where the OP said anything about preventing people from buying from him/her. Where does s/he say that?

I use that feature, and I'm not even a seller.

Thank you for pointing that out.  I have no clue why he even said that.  The reason I want this information is to check users on my blocked list.  I blocked several years ago, and I just want to see if the patterns in the feedback that they leave are still the same, or if they are even members any longer.

To escarchac and ms*hacisham

I have no clue why he even said that.

You will notice I began my post with “Just curios - what’s your point”

You now finally explain:

The reason I want this information is to check users on my blocked list.  I blocked several years ago, and I just want to see if the patterns in the feedback that they leave are still the same, or if they are even members any longer.

I would suggest that a “pet peeve” of those of us who try to help others with problems is that the posters frequently do not provide context for the question. That leaves us to guess why you are asking which in turn diminishes the value of our advice.

If you had included your ultimate explanation as part of the original; post then I suspect that the answers you would have received would have been radically different and most probably more helpful than the ones you did get.

The question about not selling to me was meant more as a quizzical supposition then a literal inquiry. It was meant to draw your attention to the lack of a stated purpose in your posting.

Sorry you both missed that.

By the way if you are getting a "no exact match found" it means the buyer is no longer registered, at least not under that name.

I agree that we often don’t get enough info on an original post andI understand why you interpreted the op’s questions in the way that you did,  but not everyone read it that way and the answers provided were what the op needed to know. To say they could have received more helpful responses really isn’t fair to those who responded.

When a user searches a user name using the advanced search function ‘no exact match found’ no longer means that the user is no longer registered.  As another poster pointed out, it simply means that the user has no listings on eBay. With no listings, eBay no longer gives a feedback link or any indication that the person exists. They changed that  a while ago.
