I really just don't understand why we are charged fees based upon the total amount of sale after sales tax is figured in. We're being taxed upon our buyers tax. SMH. I enjoy selling on ebay but can't get over this.

As others have posted............... we are being charged a "final value fee" on the entire amount that is being processed.
With the current way of assessing fees I find that I am paying basically the same as I would be with PP processing the payment, and eBay doing their fees.
PP raised their charges.
For many PP stopped refunding any of their processing fees for cancellations, and refunds.
An overall look at the situation may show that you are better off than you think after fees are assessed.

@redmodelt wrote:Before managed pay, there was a disconnect between the time the fees were billed/charged monthly and now that they are charged when the item is paid for, people are really paying more attention to them because they see them every time.
Managed Payments is more transparent, definitely, than the old eBay/PayPal separation. Evidently thousands of sellers had never put the two together to see eactly how much each transaction was costing them in fees and charges.

This has been going on for over 30 years. If you had a brick & mortar, you would be paying a "merchant" fee for the payment processor for the transaction which includes the TOTAL cost of the item. If you had your own online store you would be paying a "merchant" fee for the TOTAL transaction including any shipping or tax to the payment processor that you choose. This is nothing new at all.

eBay can easily increase the final value fee to 15% or 17% and you don't have to pay FVF on taxes and shipping, would that work? Keep eBay at bay.
