Final Value Fees

I've been selling ebay for 23 years . Just came back on after 2 years off . I can't believe the final value fees being charged now by ebay . How can they charge us a final value fee on state tax . I have foreign customers & fee is 14.2 % and Germany customers have to pay a 20% VAT ( import Tax ) and I have to pay ebay 14.2 % final value even on the VAT fee & they're talking about increases in March .

All payment processors charge their final fee on the total sale to the customer -- merchandise, handling, shipping, surcharges, sundry costs, taxes.  This nothing new.  It has been the industry standard for many decades. 

PayPal charged its fee on the total sale to the customer, plus 30 cents for the transaction.  Did you never notice that?

Yep; but everything is more expensive and buyers will continue to buy. They always have and always will.

Just be sure to calc an 'average' of sales tax (8% tax equals $1 for a $100 Sale and 20% VAT tax on a $100 sale is $2.60 on a $100 sale.

How many US sales vs. EU sales paying VAT? (that buy from you?)

you forgot shipping and promoted add fees ( as this is almost required for sales anymore )

plus the final value fee on the sales ... add it up and its a chunk of your sale

     The FVF's have not really changed that much over the last several years it was just that at one time the fees were divided between what PayPal charged/collected and what eBay collected. That changed with eBay went to MP and assimilated the PayPal FVF's into their own. 

   As   maxine*j mentioned this is a common practice across businesses.
