So, fees went from 8% a few years ago to over 14%. And now there’s going to be another increase? What is the new fee??

It used to be an arm, then a leg, now both arm & leg. Getting ridiculous for sure, especially since they actually almost DOUBLED the fees when they started charging fees on your shipping. Depending on the weight of items you sell, the fees are close to 27% now.

No. The fees are not 27% now, regardless of the weight. Are you offering free shipping? Shipping is not a fee and if you are offering it for free, then do not include that as an eBay fee, because that would be incorrect.

You forgot to add in the fees you paid to Pay-Pal in the 8%.

You pay your fees on the entire amount processed by Managed Payments.
This includes selling price, shipping (since 2008), and sales taxes. There is also a non-refundable 30c service fee.
Many who think the fees are higher than advertised are calculating fees only on selling price. Some don't realize that Free Shipping means that their cost of shipping should be included in their asking price.
However, since my books are already being charged at 15%, I won't be buying any more books for resale.
Here is the current rate chart for those interested. Note that Store fees are slightly lower.

In 2011, when eBay started charging final value fee on the buyer's entire payment including shipping, they set the FVF rate at 9% (for non stores, in most categories). Then in 2013 they raised that general rate to 10%, while sellers were still paying 29% to PayPal, so the rate in 2013 was net 12.9%.
I suppose at one time it might have been 8%, but that was before 2011.
Per today's announcement, the new rate in most categories, for non-stores, will be 13.25%. Most of your listings are in the Clothing category, where the rate was already 15% and will not be going up. You can look up the new rates for each category here:

"...So, fees went from 8% a few years ago to over 14%..."
disingenuous comparison at best.....a few years ago would have been
(whatever the ebay rate is) (+) (Paypal rate) (=) Total Rate
so, even 8% (which was a lot more than a 'few' years ago) as you say would be 10.9%
and there are only a few categories higher than 12.9 % currently..
it's ok to complain, but let's do it accurately

Not true. The fees range from a low of 12.9% to as high as 15.% depending on the category. The fees are still cheaper than owning a store and trying to sell stuff there. If you are not making enough profit, you need to raise your prices. If you want to pay lower fees than it's obvious that you need to sell lighter weight items and cheaper items but then the profit is going to be very low.

"What is the new fee??"
Please see the Winter 2023 Seller Update:
https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/resources/seller-updates/2023-winter/financials
Generally, it is an increase of 0.35%. Which is less than one-half of one percent.
Categories that carried a 12.9% Final Value Fee (FVF) will now be charged a FVF of 13.25%.
The 30-cents-per-order part of the fee remains.
And it goes into effect on February 15, 2023.
BTW, fees on watches will NOT change -- they will still be 15%.

they also count the buyers taxes

Thank you! At those rates I will need to find and alternative source to sell online. That’s just way out of order.

Thank you! I really appreciate you posting the fees!

My apologies. I have been selling on EBay for nearly 20 years. I may have remembered incorrectly. Thank you.

Thanks so much for the input! Greatly appreciate it!!
