I am truly trying to understand how EBAY can charge a fee based on the last bid received on a Seuss book? So, it's not okay for me to make money on the books, but they can? I had 5 listings, they cancelled them all, but charged me over $71 In fees for closing my auction early, which I didn't do. I can't imagine how much money they are making from this. 😡 It seems their position is that the books are so offensive they shouldn't be sold, but not too offensive for them to make money on. 🤷🏼♀️

Also, they actually relisted one of the items for me, then told me to relist the others...then promptly cancelled 2 of my auctions and charged me fees AGAIN!

A bit crazy. Think they canceled assuming you would sell at that price and charged fees based on that. Should have let them run to end if already started with bids. Or, given you a time window to end them yourself and make the call sell/not sell at current price.
Think you are entitled to a refund, This was an eBay initiated move not yours.

Or for you to make money on, eh?

I am interested how they charged you as well. You are in managed payments, where typically you don't see any fees until the buyer pays so ebay can extract their "cut".
Where are you seeing the fees?
P.S. You might want to END the books you presently have for sale? AGAIN? You have to cancel all the bids first.

They emailed me and said they are charging me based on the last bid when they cancelled the auctions. One of my books was over $200 at last bid and they charged me over $29 for that one auction that they ended early. I haven't sold on ebay in a couple of years, and won't ever again once this fiasco is over.

Anything for a buck.

and they charged me over $29
Where did they post the charge? Are they snagging it out of pending or available funds?
Once again, you have active listings for the same stuff. You should cancel the bids and end them?

That seems very unfair to charge you fees when EBAY ended your auction. I would call Customer Support and explain the situation.

There is only 6 books that are considered offensive. All other Dr. Seuss books should be okay to sell.
I can see them ending if your books were part of the 6, but to charge a FVF based on the active price is ridiculous. I can you losing your listing fee if had one.
Keep us posted!

@bethc430
You may also want to see post #5 in the following thread, so those "cancelled (by ebay)" listings don't get posted again (and charged even more punishment fees).

I don't have any pending or available funds because I haven't sold on eBay in several years, so it looks like they're going to take it out of my bank account that I was forced to link for them to allow me to sell again.

Thank you! That is very helpful information.

Call ebay..........it's bots ending the items, it's bots putting the charges on.......

Take a look at the OPs listings. Looks like to me they were perhaps "auto-renewed". These books are not in the OPs SOLD or COMPLETED listings as they were cancelled by administrative action. I don't think that administrative action prevented an "auto renewal" or it is one of those "working as intended" deals to capture more punishment fees.
The bad list:
And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street
If I Ran the Zoo
McElligot’s Pool
On Beyond Zebra
Scrambled Eggs Super!
The Cat’s Quizzer
So what is your opinion as to what is going on there? The first two in the OPs present active listings are on the list. From the OPs post #2:
Also, they actually relisted one of the items for me, then told me to relist the others...then promptly cancelled 2 of my auctions and charged me fees AGAIN!
