Total rip off fees, sold an item for $100 with $13.75 for shipping, ebay took $16 in fees.

FVF's for $113.75 plus taxes sounds about right at $16. Were you not aware of the fees being 12.5% before you listed?

The final value fee amount sounds about average. For your next sale up the price by about 12% to cover eBay's percentage. EBay can't provide their service for free. They are a business.

Rip off is paying too much or overcharged.
I don't know what state your buyer is from but a $113.75 purchase plus 9.5% sales tax of $10.81 is $124.56 total purchase price. 12.55% of $124.56 is $15.63 plus .30.

Sounds about right, did you pay to much for the item you sold? What did you think the fees should of been?

LMAO raise the price, why do people suggest that? That just makes it that much harder to sell the item. Not helpful.

In other words it means to consider eBay's percentage when pricing items...

eBay's FVF is calculated on the item price, the shipping fee and the state sales tax, if any.
You didn't know that?

Those eBay fees (12.55% + 30 cents on the total amount the buyer paid) are spot on for US sellers.
Possibly the selling fees for Australia are different - you need to check them out at your end.
You been around since 2007 and have pay selling fees right along what was your fee structure before Managed Payments - i.e . eBay Final Value fees + Pay Pal fees.

Au fee's are the same, so item price + postage attracts 12.55%
No state sales tax

Let me guess: you completely missed the fact that your PayPal fees are now $0.00, right?

I am not sure why you think it is not help helpful ? If you cannot afford to raise the price 12% the other option is to buy the item for 12% less. I don't know what else you expect a person to do but it cost money to advertise (millions of Ebay users), and to sell, regardless of where you go other than craigslist. Do you have a suggestion for the OP ?

So there are no state sales tax fees because Oz has no states, and apparently no equivalent governmental unit? Interesting. Will need to keep that in mind when responding to queries here from Australian sellers.

What it means is someone doesn't know much about running a successful business. You can't have higher prices than everyone else and actually have sales. If you can't make a profit at a competitive price then you need to find a new source for products or a new line of business.

I agree.
Only some items can bear raising the price.
Folks complain we aren’t Amazon but, at this rate, neither are we 1st Dibs either.
The site won’t be fun if it’s all new department store carp, cheap junk from China, and only precious antiques.
Ebays fees may or may not be “fair” but the site is most robust when there is a broad range of items with a wide range of price points.
