Feedback

How do you guys/gals handle receiving and giving out feedback after a selling transaction?  I use to give out feedback to the buyer right away but would never receive any positive feedback back. I'd send out messages after 30 days to remind buyer but those sometimes work. Any suggestions? I've started to hold out feedback till after customer had received their item. Been working on getting that feedback score higher and higher.

I have my feedback given to customers automated. 1 less thing to deal with.

I used to 'wait' until they got it, but some complain that they 'did all they were suppose to do so why didn't I get feedback?'- usually in a nasty-gram. So, I just auto do it.

Just know that bugging buyers for feedback is NOT a good idea. Ebay already does that. Annoying them could lead to negative feedback.

Moral of the story: just keep selling and shipping. You'll get 20-35% feedback and nothing will ever change that.

Agree. I gave up 'expecting' feedback from buyers despite me giving them feedback.

I ended up 'auto' feed backing them too, like u said, one less thing to deal with.

Had to work on 'coveting' giving them feedback until I rec'd feedback and getting p'd off when I didn't receive it back, but that ship sailed years ago.

Your % is about right, get only about 25% back, despite me giving 100%.

I leave positive feedback after I ship. I don't do anything to solicit feedback.

I always leave buyers feedback a few days after they receive the item.

As far as getting feedback from buyers, I don't worry about it.

Have a great day.

Bad medicine.  You should stop that.

Similar to "Kens" I watch the delivery list and give positive feedback a few days or even weeks  later. I also send a polite thank you note with the packages, which contains the "forbidden" communications  info. That gives buyers a better sense of trust as you are not "hiding" behind the baysters. This all, usually , leases to additional sales, or at least staying in touch for my knowledge base. Be polite - be human, and the buyers come.

I do the exact same thing.  It acts as an extra check to ensure the item is shipped in a timely manner.  And I think that giving feedback before the item arrives gives the seller a little cushion of goodwill against a potential irate buyer.  It doesn't bother me that some people do not leave feedback as I have been selling here long enough that my feedback is quite high for a tiny seller like myself.   My feedback is the best advertising that I have and I feel comfortable to price a dollar or two more than someone selling a similar widget when that person has a low feedback score.

@*northern_retro*   Good topic:

As a Seller:

-I leave FB for my customers while the label is printing out thanking them for their purchase / business.  Then its done and I don't have to worry about it

-I NEVER message a customer about FB or put notes in packages about it

-Over all the years of selling FB from my customers has been consistent - between 50% to 60% ...I think the amount of FB Sellers receive depends on the categories they sell in

As a Buyer:

-I leave FB for Sellers the day I open the package and inspect the item(s) UNLESS there is an issue

-If there are ANY issues (and its rare) I message the Seller and come to a resolution.  Once that is completed  I leave Positive FB since they resolved the issue

While I am mainly a Seller what I have noticed when I purchase is that the vast majority of other Sellers do NOT leave FB until after I do if they leave it at all.  The only Seller who has done it the way I do is the eBay Branded Supply group ... they leave FB prior to shipment thanking me for my purchase ...

I don't know why Ebay just doesn't give it for us automatically since it can only say one thing...Positive.

Yeah, we could  withhold it but who would know. It seems only a percentage of buyers even go near the Feedback link anyway.

I'm glad I read this thread. I have always wondered why I have only gotten less than 20% feedback even though I do everything in a timely, polite and professional manner.

I thought that since I have a 100% rate, more satisfied buyers would chime in with positive reviews.

Not only do I send items the next business day. I gift wrap them, seal in plastic wrapper, bubble wrap, yada, yada, yada. When I return home from the Post Office, I provide the buyer positive feedback and send them a personal note of shipping, a thanks and a copy of the USPS receipt.

When I am notified that the buyer has received the item, I send them a note asking if everything is ok. If not, please let me know so I can fix. And, of course, I thank the buyer again.

Nope. Nada. I guess I'll just go with the flow😆

If I was your buyer , I'd be super annoyed at all that extra communication and I might avoid leaving feedback for fear of inciting even more of it.

When a seller purchases postage through eBay, the buyer automatically gets a message from eBay telling them that their item has been shipped.  Further communication is not useful.
