I need help.
I have been selling on eBay for about 2 months, and have sold 27 items (so far) with just shy of $1200 in sales. I know that is not much but I am still learning how. Anyway, right now I have a (9) feedback, all positive, and most of that is as a buyer, with only 4 as a seller. So my question is how on earth do I get more feedback? I have good relations with my buyers, always ship the same day, offer free shipping, etc.
I'm thinking about adding a message on my invoices to my customers that says "10% refund with positive feedback left" or something along those lines, or would that be desperate sounding (I kind of am as higher feedback would open doors to greater sales) and petty?
Thank you

You are doing very well; when I started selling, it took longer than 2 months to make $1,200. As for offering a 10% refund with positive feedback left, that would make you sound desperate. Just a simple "Thank you for your purchase" on the packing slip is enough.
Do you leave leave feedback first or wait for the buyer to leave it?

I leave feedback as soon as I receive payment. All of my packages have a small card in them that says "thank you" along with some store info and my signature (I sign every one for a personal touch). But that's it.

how on earth do I get more feedback?
I know as a beginning seller this issue of getting feedback may seem important to you. It is voluntary. Reminders or requests made to buyers to leave it are often annoying to them, and may result in less satisfactory results than you hoped would occur. Basically, you are selling here to make money, not get the green donuts that do not have much more meaning than those gold stars you got in kindergarten.
This is not meant to sound harsh, but it is the reality. Do you want those gold stars or do you want money?
There are sellers here that rack up hundreds of NEGATIVE feedbacks a week and are still selling day after day. Feedback does not affect your seller standing be it bad or good anymore. My advice is don't worry about it. Concentrate on providing good product, good descriptions, and good service. Concentrate on making money. You will get a "gold star" once in a while.

Hi, please do not offer a refund or bonus etc for feedback. It is against the Feedback Manipulation policy, link below. In fact, the rule is to not even mention feedback in one's listings.
Unfortunately, buyers are leaving less feedback as time goes by, frustrating new sellers who are trying to establish a positive sales history on eBay. (I include a handwritten thank you note in with my sold items to show my appreciation. This might help boost a little more feedback, but i never ask for it or bring it up to the buyer.) The best advice is to just keep doing what you are to be the best seller you can be, and it will come. If you feel strongly about it, continue to purchase your needed items here and that will help build up your score.
Best luck to you in your selling!

OH NO, don't do that note. That would breach the Ebay rules and you could get yourself into trouble. You can't pay for feedback and that is what you would be doing.
FB just isn't on the top of many buyer's to do list. I know that is especially difficult for a seller that is trying to establish themselves. But it is a fact. I find that only about 25% of my buyers leave FB. You will just have to be patient.
You can increase your chances of getting FB by increasing your listings. The more transactions you have the more chances for getting FB. So clean those closets and list, list, list.
BTW, you can help to increase you sales well structured listings. Don't be shy about your descriptions. Don't waste the prime real estate that a title is. Keywords / searchable words are best and use as much of the space as possible.
For example your retractable dog leash. Not all retractable leashes are created equal and people that use them know that. So saying in the description that it is for large or small dogs isn't going to tell your buyer enough. Retractable leashes aren't usually for a large or small dog. That would be two different types of retractable leashes. These types of leashes usually go by the weight of a dog. So you need more info in the description and the title is too short. Get that info into the listing it will help you sell these types of things.

Years ago when I started, I included something like this on a sheet of paper in the package:
Thanks for the order! I do hope you are pleased with your item.
I am a new seller just learning how to sell, so if there is anything wrong or anything that I could have done better, please let me know. If everything was good and you have the time, I'd appreciate your leaving feedback as that is so important on Ebay to some buyers.
Thanks again.
first name.
That was a bit dangerous back then as it could invite: well the x has more scratches that you didn't mention, so give me a partial refund. I never had that happen, tho it could have. I'm ambivalent as to whether it might be more dangerous today. Nor do I know in today's world whether it would work.

Be careful what you wish for - be very careful. Personally I don't care if the buyers leave me feedback anymore and apparently the buyers don't care either. They just want their stuff. Oh you will hear from them if there's a problem. Till then let sleeping dogs sleep. Since feedback is so lopsided anyway with sellers never being to reciprocate to bad buyers - I say just get rid of it.

Are you sure about that? I don't even look at seller feedback when I purchase.

While I too would advise exercising great caution while on the path to increase your FB score. I think it is important to remember it is easy for those of us with enough or a decent amount of FB to dismiss those that do not have that. For new sellers getting the first couple hundred FB is extremely important.
It is a fact that lower FB sellers are bigger targets for buyers that try to take advantage of sellers.
So while it is very important to not annoy the buyers so this backfires on the OP. I respect their need and desire to get more FB as a newer seller.

As a buyer, I believe feedback is an important tool to help me choose which seller to buy from. For that reason, I leave feedback for my purchases to help other buyers make an informed decision. I hope that other buyers will do the same.

That is a healthy and caring way to view this subject. Unfortunately most buyers don't feel the way you do which is evidenced by the amount of feedback that gets left for sellers. For myself it is less than 25 % of my customers that leave FB. Other sellers may have different experiences.
Thank you for being caring buyer and obviously a great seller too. You are an asset to the community!
