I am a long time TOP RATED seller and I take feedback very seriously. Can anyone explain why 

there is a very long delay before feedback appears .. Feedback for Items sold 6-8-10 weeks ago

I am also a top rated seller of over 20 years.  I gave up on taking feedback seriously a long time ago.  Ebay's interface cannot be described without using the word "cluster".  It has only gotten worse over time, and they exacerbate the problem with silly rules/policies (for instance, why can I only leave + FB for buyers?).  I almost never leave negative feedback for anyone, but taking away that option makes the feedback score worthless - but I digress.

Back to the point, currently I am trying to leave positive feedback for the seller on an item I just purchased, but ebay won't let me.  I do not know why.  All other transactions on my list have a "Leave Feedback" link in the drop box, but not this one.

Maybe that is happening to you, or maybe some buyers just simply wait until they have had time to evaluate the item they received

Supposedly , feedback no matter . i noticed that Ebay rewards seller with sale of similaritem that feedback was left for

Feedback to buyers I usually leave when I ship. Feedback for the stuff I buy gets left when I get around to it, usually every couple weeks.

That said, I had 2 sellers this past week or so send me "reminders" for feedback. I don't like that. Maybe I will forget them.
