Feedback

I can’t figure out why I’m not getting any feedback. I ship all of my items is polymailers. But I seal them for protection inside a plastic baggie,  taped nicely first. I don’t use tissue paper or any fancy cards. I only have 1 shipment that took more that a day & half the time I end up paying for part of the shipping. After weeks of research & reading what other successful sellers do they say it’s a waste of money for fancy wrapping, etc. - all my shipments are first class. Under 12 ounces, so far at least. I’ve received 4 feed backs on 28 sales? Is it rude to contact buyers & ask for feedback - What is going on?

@intimatesinc

This is what I'm going to suggest. Presentation is key, you sell Victoria Secret items, place each item in a pink tissue paper and seal with a little sticker before mailing.

I understand the fact that feedback is old school but ebay still has it in place and you want to build yours up.

Make your packages stand out, your customers will appreciate the little added touch you bring to their items!

Probably because it is optional, time consuming, and buyers have no incentive to do it.

Is it rude to contact buyers & ask for feedback

Yes - and eBay generally does it for you.

Re: Feedback

I always leave feedback as a buyer. It's so rare, that I figure the seller might remember me positively if I make another purchase later.

Not sure if it matters. I just like having people think positively of me. On line, at least. Face-to-face, I'm a jerk.

Now get off my lawn.

Re: Feedback

You know it's optional/voluntary, right?

Maybe not rude, but do you really want to risk irritating a buyer into leaving a negative?

Re: Feedback

I think buyers have 60 days to leave feedback, so it's not always immediate. Some buyers wait awhile and do them all at once every few months. You may still be getting some.

I leave feedback on  shipment. For my last 50 FB I received 12 FB.

That's normal.

Re: Feedback

Cut off before i could finish...Don't worry about it. No news is good news. I leave feedback first and tell them that i left them feedback. Surprising how so many buyers don't even know what feedback is.

Re: Feedback

did the the same routine - just common courtesy when the customer  pays up.  What happens after that should not have a bearing on  whether or not on "saying thanks".  Don't know & can't prove but  leaving FB first "might" just take the edge  off a not so good situation but I have been around people a lot since 1944 and noone will  make everyone happy - that's  just part of life.

Re: Feedback

Because feedback has run its course. People are surveyed to death on the internet. eBay is just another place asking for feedback and on eBay you actually have to write something as opposed to just give something like a star rating.

Why would a buyer feel compelled to give feedback for a routine purchase of an item? I bought it. Paid for it. It arrived.  Nothing really special here that's how it's supposed to work.

FB needs a total reimagining. eBay's system was brilliant and served a very important function in 1995 when eBay launched. That was a long time ago. A lot has changed. But eBay has only tinkered with the system.

Re: Feedback

I somehow manage to actually get 1 feedback for every 3 I leave, but I think that is because I mostly sell cards and collectables and those customers tend to have attachments to items and are more likely to leave feedback.

Re: Feedback

Seems as the years of internet interactions go on, personability has almost disappeared. You've got your 30 year old keyboard warriors in their underwear raging against the machine, people communicate with random numbers and letters instead of words, and worst of all - no longer show simple courtesies of " please and thank you". I usually only buy and not sell, but I truly appreciate and understand how it must feel for a seller to source, list, pack, ship, with all of the associated fees and headaches. When I make a purchase, I ALWAYS leave feedback, and I also follow with a message to the seller through messaging to let them know the package made it and thank them and wish them a good day. Does that make me a saint? Heck no. Far from it, but I feel that it is nice in this day and age to keep some form of humanity alive when working on the ' net. Unfortunately, I may be a dying breed...

Re: Feedback

"I can't figure out why I'm not getting any feedback."

I can -- it's because feedback is optional/voluntary, not mandatory/required.

It may not be considered rude for a seller to contact buyers and ask for feedback, but it's a major mistake.

No matter how nice and polite you are, if you hit a buyer when he's in a bad mood, or maybe felt the transaction did go 100% perfectly, you are asking for something you don't really want on your record.
