Feedback is such a waste. I've decided to stop sending feedback until I receive positive feedback. I'm not boosting anymore buyers accts when they don't have the common courtesy to do the same. The reason is 5 out of 10 buyers who have 100% feedback and buy on a regular basis refuse to send feedback to the seller regardless of the level of communication, quality of item, super fast shipping or 5 star feedback you leave for them. If you send them a friendly reminder after a few weeks they ignore it. I've seen other sellers who post in their description that positive feedback will be offered in return for positive feedback. I won't post that in my listing but from today forward I will not send feedback unless it is received. What are your thoughts about that and how many of you sellers out there have this same issue and how do you handle it. I take it personally. I strive to make sure everything I send it as described and quality. I also don't appreciate a buyer sending an offer that I cannot accept and they buy it anyway and send negative feedback yet wont return the item for a full refund, and e-Bay allows that to happen, or a buyer says 2 weeks after getting their item that it was missing a button when the button was clearly visible in all photos provided and they are allowed to leave negative feedback and affect my rating. Tell me what you think??

I agree. I do not send feedback now until I receive it. I either state that in the item description or in package on packing slip. I think that eBay should give the seller a positve rating if the buyer does not respond in a couple of weeks.

I said to send it back for full refund. They wanted to keep the card and get full refund. I said it did not work that way. They did not answer me for a week. They filed claim with Ebay, it was denied because they tried to do the same thing by keeping the card and get full refund. AFTER Ebay denied them, they left me negative and said "bad seller. would not refund card." I emailed Ebay and they said "tough luck, but you have great feedback anyway!" Yeah, sure. Now its 99.9% instead of 100%. I decided to wait a couple months, I bought a card from that same person. Paid for it and received it. I left them negative and said "bad seller. Card damaged. Over priced shipping." They left me angry response but did not realize it was me! Anyways, Ebay does not care!
Older post, but just now seeing it.
That kind of action could be considered grounds for action against your account including sanctions or suspension.

We have been selling since 2005. Not high volume, but quality & service. Three months ago, recieved our first negative feedback in 15 years. Thousands of great comments & now one untrue negative comment. I called ebay after buyer threatened me. They could read her note, yet they backed her & would not remove comment. We went from 100% positive to 98.2% positive and sales have dropped to almost non existent. Best prices on same merchandise. What can we do? Has anyone experienced this?

I'm with you on your post, the same happens to me all the time and in fact I could of written the same post as you did.. , I'm sick of it. Ebay does nothing to help the sellers in this regard... Ebay should have something set up that buyers must leave feedback. Ebay does everything to help the buyers and nothing for the sellers. I have tried saying the same as you, will leave feedback once I get feedback from you, doesn't work as 7 out of 10 won't. I have given feedback once the item is shipped, a little better here as 4 out of 10 won't give it back. if ebay would make a FLASHING icon on their purchase pages that would help... Ebay needs to do something !!!!

i think the feedback system needs to be fixed. if a buyer pays for an item within a reasonable amount of time the seller should be required to leave pos feedback. after an extended amount of time has passed and the buyer has not paid for an item then they do then neutral feed back should be the highest level they can receive but it they never pay for an item then they should have an unpaid item mark put against them and after so many they should have there buying power removed for a period of time. and after a buyer has paid and received feedback they should be required after so many items they have paid for and received to leave feedback for the seller or they cant buy anything until feedback is resolved.
Feedback is voluntary. That means whatever and whenever anyone chooses to do, they are within their rights to do it.
And you are assuming that everyone deserve feedback. The absence of feedback may be feedback in and of itself, and it is to your advantage to leave it that way.
Just some thoughts.

I'm afraid that's what many buyers are thinking. They think that when a seller does not leave feedback, that means the seller thinks the buyer did not do good enough in the transaction to deserve a positive feedback.
I would not want my good customers to think that, and CERTAINLY would not want a bad customers to think I wanted to give him/her a negative.
But, as people say, it is voluntary to let a good customer think the seller doesn't want the customer to buy again.

That makes sense but Ebay went to that one way street because sellers were posting false negative feedback in retaliation for an honest neg. Good buyers left.
So ebay changed the process.

I'm inclined to agree with your sentiments, in respect of the disheartening feeling of providing ones level best sellers performance, while maintaining a 100% rating, to have one or two acrimonious customers potentially damaging ones reputation and selling confidence, that most 'small' sellers are proud to have achieved.
Most sensible buyers use feedback scores as a good measure of ones trading reputation and overall performance. I regard not leaving feedback (praise or critical) as an incomplete transaction. I always leave feedback immediately after receiving payment and enjoy complimenting fellow eBayers on smooth transactions.
I conclude that when feedback ratings are ignored, the feedback system quickly becomes obsolete, some users completely unaware of the impact that not leaving feedback has on reputations. After all, if you use the feedback system to assess the sellers integrity before buying, why not help others once you have completed your own transactions.
Online purchasing has changed and not in good ways!
We seem to have lost any shred of respect for the PERSON at the other end.
Face to face trading would undoubtedly have a whole different outcome.

It is good to see than many sellers are participating in the feedback program the way it has been described to buyers.
By doing so, those sellers are helping to cause more buyers to participate .
