Feedback for items cancelled by buyer.

I received a neutral feedback for an item a buyer requested to be cancelled within hours of the purchase. I accepted and  refunded the payment right away. The buyer then left a neutral feedback that just reads "ok" on my profile.

I know neutral feedback doesn't really hurt your account standing like it used to but it could potentially give buyers the impression that someone didn't have a good experience.

I did respond to the feedback to give an explanation as to what happened. I just find it annoying that things like that can't just be removed. I can understand if I initiated the cancellation due to being out of stock or some other reason that would be considered my fault, but that wasn't the case.

I guess it's not really a big deal but I'd like to hear other peoples opinion on the matter.

I have tried contacting the buyer but they've been unresponsive. I had this happen a few weeks ago as well from a buyer who called me an awesome ebayer but left a neutral feedback 😞

Anyway, I'd just like to hear feedback from others sellers.

Re: Feedback for items cancelled by buyer.

It sounds like these buyers don't understand the system.  They may be thinking that a normal transaction that is "ok", is nothing to get excited about, so, like Switzerland, they are neutral.  They may be reluctant to give a positive for an "OK" transaction because they want to be wildly excited or something.

Hard to know what is going on in their minds.

Buyer isn't responding so a request for feedback revision would not work.

You might try calling CS and saying that OK does not constitute a neutral but that might not fly.  Buyer's opinion.

A fewe neutrals shouldn't hurt, if you respond professionally and show the facts.

Wishing you all the best!

But seeing as how the buyer wanted to cancel the sale, should they even be allowed to leave feedback at all? I did not think this was the case?

It should be no problem to get it removed if the OP has the time/patience to call CS and explain it to someone who can comprehend exactly what happened.

Re: Feedback for items cancelled by buyer.

Yeah. It seems wrong a buyer can request a cancel and then leave FB, let alone non positive FB

Re: Feedback for items cancelled by buyer.

I've actually had feedback removed in similar situations in the past but they won't do it for me now. I actually called them on two different occasions and received the same answer even after clearly explaining the situation. They just keep telling me how neutral feedback does not affect my account, so I shouldn't worry about it. It's just an annoying situation.

Honestly, I agree about neutrals not mattering or affecting much. I would never care about being given some sporatic neutrals, unless the comments themselves were a breach of the rules (using profanity ot whatnot).

To me when I am looking to buy something and I browse the sellers feedback, purely out of curiosity, and I see neutrals, 99% of the time the comments either make no sense or aren't necessarily viewed as negative in my opinion. I think the reason they are grey like that is because they are meant to be mostly ignored!

Re: Feedback for items cancelled by buyer.

Your feedback follow ups look great. They are level headed and explanatory without accusation. I would definitely buy from you. Wish other sellers would respond the same way.
