Three times straight, with two different sellers, my comic book bags and boards orders will be late, and I'll be forced to compensate my customers. Both sellers used Media Mail, which I discovered after ordering from the second seller and awaiting my shipment from the first.
I'm fed up with it. And I've decided to do something about it.
I paid the extra postage just so the postal clerk could open the first seller's package to see what was inside, and appropriate steps could be taken. I'll be doing the same with the current seller, and any others that ignore the rules.
I'm a straight-up honest seller. My items are described without sugar coating, I take numerous scans, and I mail Priority Mail, or standard with insurance. I don't try to game the system. I expect those I buy from to do the same.
Rant over.

Bags and boards are one of the cheapest comic supplies to have on hand and really no reason to ever run out or cut it close...

OH!!! Just looked up the term!
I absolutely don't, won't, nor have I EVER promised an item I didn't have in my hot little hand. Clear enough? *L*

Again, that has nothing to do with a seller fraudulantly using MM. I've just made up my mind to report those who do it, whether it be supplies or comics or magazines or anything other than books.

Actually it does, people will do it people will get away with it so YOU need to plan accordingly by never cutting it close if you get an order YOU need to either buy some bags and boards in person from a retail store or improvise with cardboard and other types of bags for the time being or increase your handling time, shipments should never be mailed out late while you "wait for bags and boards".

I've already taken steps to ensure I won't run out, again.
The point of this post is that I'll be reporting those who fraudulantly ship Media Mail, when I see them doing it. The fact the sellers who've been doing it have caused me problems is secondary.

As to being the postal police... how's the salary?

OP is ordering bags and boards to store and ship his merchandise (comic books) ...
OP is fed up with others that cheat the system by using Media Mail and is having the clerk open his incoming supply order because they know that the bags and boards are not eligible.
OP added the "had to refund" part (I think) to stress the point that they do the right thing when it comes to their customers complaining about late/slow shipping (just a guess) and is comparing his/her suppliers to him/herself (another guess)
By George, I think we have a winner here!
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all weak.

The salary sucks, but whoever said doing the right thing is its own reward has never nailed a rule-breaker, before.
I dig it, it's good for my inner devil. 🙂

So because of your error in keeping up inventory you prefer to put blame. I see it now. OK

You didn't have the supplies in your hand that you promised your customers so I suppose the term EVER doesn't count.

If you're gonna split hairs, I only promise comics; I don't promise they'll be bagged and boarded.

The sellers ARE to blame for items not arriving on time. Sure I read that somewhere...

I don't see the problem with you shipping the orders on time then, surely you know how to ship a comic safely even without bagging and boarding it with coventional materials.

So, you'd give the seller a break for sending comic supplies Media Mail? If so, that's cool. I won't. I will bust them every time. And I'm perfectly comfortable with that.
In fact, I may even enjoy it. I may even stuff my fingers in my ears and chant "Nana-booboo" when I'm doing it. *LOL*
