Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

I been buying and selling on eBay since 2001 and I never had any problems untill Covid hit and it’s getting worse and worse.

not only sellers cannot leave bad feedback to buyer who scams you or return an empty box for full refund and ebay decides with buyer no matter what.

I get more problems lately and it’s really make my stomach sick.

I sold few items and almost 2 months later buyer want to return and file with ebay return…46 days after the sale..ebay automatically accept return and force me to pay for return shipping.

I thought return policy was only 30 days….I guess not.

I had another buyer open a return after 36 days saying she no longer like it…again somehow ebay make me pay $3.50 return shipping.

this is ridiculous.
but more frustrating thing is, ebay allow buyer another 30 days to return after they opened return through ebay what?

so buyer opened return after 46 days and few weeks past, still has not shipped….I guess they wait till close to return due dates….

people are so unfair and unkind and ebay as well.

how we are able to relax selling on eBay?
after this thing resolve, I m leaving ebay for good.

no wonder ebay stock is falling and over million people has left ebay.

not to mention PayPal gives 90 days to return…

It's not just sellers. Buyers are getting ticked off as well.

As a buyer I waited 10 days to get my item with zero response to 2 emails to the seller. Opened an INR and got told I have to wait yet another 7 days for "the buyer to respond" before I can ask ebay to step in. Really?

On eBay, sellers haven't been able to leave negative feedback for buyers since about 2008.

Obviously that should have been seller to respond.

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

Yes I know. I buy a lot on ebay and yes some sellers take weeks to get my item and they say shipped yet when I ask tracking number they cannot provide and few days later they upload tracking number and even after uploaded tracking on ebay, they do not ship for another 3 to 5 days….

when I sold an item, I ship the same day if mail man hasn’t came yet or ship the next day.

sometimes I ship priority mail to buyer even if buyer only paid for First Class and I pay extra to ship priority…sometimes it bite my butt if buyer want to return month later…I loose on both shipping fees.

It may not have been an issue for you, but I think all that stuff has been an issue for others since the rules changed around 2008.

Ebay's  return policy is 30 days.

If you had 2 returns both over 30 days and ebay "forced" you to accept the return on both,

something is definitely wrong.

That's not how it's supposed to work.

Obvious question, have you tried contacting ebay?

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

Ebay accepts Credit Cards.   The agreement between CC processors and  Ebay  (and every other business)  is that they must take returns .    In cases of Items not as described or delivered,  it is 90 days.   Ebay has NO control over this.

Every on line site is like this and I have the fewest problems on Ebay.

Amazon is beginning to realize how much money this costs them and have been trying to crack down on fraud.

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

I get the feedback issue. Only two ways I see for a work-a-round.

1. leave feedback upfront as a seller. If the purchase turns sour. The seller can do a follow up on their feedback. Not a fix, but your comment is posted for others to read.

2. If the buyer leaves a negative, you can respond to that feedback. I think this one is less likely because the scammers have figured it out.

The next best thing is just to add to your block list.

For the 46-day return, what was the reason the buyer selected for requesting the return?

For the 36 day return for remorse, you could have denied the request. You have a 14 day return policy with the buyer paying for return shipping so if the request had been within 14 days, it would have been automatically accepted.

The 30-day ebay policy is for buyers to file (and win) NAD claims.

Beyond the 30 days, ebay allows buyers to open requests because some sellers don't mind accepting returns even past their policies.  But those buyers aren't covered by MBG.

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

We have had these as well and usually we just accept the return. Relist the item and move on. We usually go with the acceptance of te return because we know these people can open a chargeback with their payment fsource for a WHOLE lot longer and we do not like to take risks that the credit card companies will allow the customer to keep one of our expensive items. Nope, we ain’t letting that happen.

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

All of these comments are spot on. Sellers don’t pay but show 100% positive feedback  after reneging on perhaps many transactions . Sellers just don’t ship or respond with status yet you can’t get your money back. I’m done with EBay after I wrap up these final two transactions. Life is too short.

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

"BUYERS don't pay but show 100% positive feedback after reneging on perhaps many transactions."  Since buyers cannot be given anything EXCEPT positive FB since 2008, it makes sense that all their FB would be positive.

"Sellers just don't ship or respond with status yet you can't get your money back."

Wrong.  If/when a buyer doesn't receive his item within a day or two past its last estimate delivery date, the buyer, per the MBG, can open an INR case within 30 days and will be refunded.

Next question?

Re: Fed up with ebay where sellers get screwed no matter what.

I've been an Ebay seller for 20 years and it's only gotten worse the longer I've been on here. I am going to be pulling most of my listings as well, I'm tired of buyers waiting 2 days then opening a case with Ebay for INR without ever contacting me. If it doesn't have tracking (most of my items are very small and don't), I'm not selling it on Ebay any more.
