February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

Hi. Could anyone tell me this? First, I have not updated my profile because I don't care to have funds go into my bank account. So, if I list an item today, being 26 January for 7 days which would put the ending date into February, would the funds I receive from the buyer still go into my PayPal account?

Thank you,

Tim

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

If you sell something on eBay after the 1st, eBay will hold your money forever until you sign up. That's my understanding, anyway. I wouldn't list anything.

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

when I transitioned I had auctions end for several days that went to papal but the new listings went to MP.

after the 1st you will be unable to list new listings

7 day auctions will end with money going to paypal.

long term GTC may hang up and payments get stranded with ebay till you do something

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

Seriously?  I thought the payments would still go through paypal on the GTC's... just that I couldn't make any NEW listings or edit the ones I had up.

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

So, if I understand you correctly, if I list it for 7 days from now it will be sort of grandfathered in so it should go to PayPal? But after the first it's the new way or the highway? Thank you for your reply 1tuna. 🙂

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

I think the GTC sales will be good but from what I have read ebay is sort of just holding peoples payments before they are signed up.sort of like sign up if you want acess to the funds.its being forced on some sellers after the cutoff even if they are not signed up .

In my case I had abpout 200 unsold auctions that were now in MP.I did not really utilize GTC much

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

So do you think if I did a  1 day or3 day listing starting today that it might go to PayPal? eBay has been holding my payments to PayPal because I have not sold many items however once the buyer receives the item and gives me good feedback they release it to PayPal.

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

Thank you for your reply wrong66. I'm wondering if the 22d of January was the cutoff for item listings profits going to PayPal?

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

I called... we all know how that goes... but the lady was insistent that the payments would still go to paypal just that I would not be able to create new listings or edit the old ones.  I'm not sure she realized they were GTC listings.

First payment that goes into the neither world I'm yanking all of them down.

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

if your cutoff date is feb 1st you can list till then, your listing will show paypal.

its hard to tell what will happen but most sllers sign up.you could have money in limbo after the 1st

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

I am pretty sure that GTC listings will not renew once they run out past the cutoff date so within 30 days or less after the cutoff they will just go to unsold

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

Cyn...........we've had several posts that say GTC payments were held and Ebay would not release until one signed up.  One even said CS has said if sellers would not ever sign up, funds would go to the State unclaimed money fund.  (how true that is, I have no idea).

People have reported universally that auctions that were listed prior to people getting changed over were sent to Paypal, even if the payments were made after sellers were in MP.

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

Thank you so much for your time 1tuna. I got an email from eBay today stating that I missed the cutoff date of 22 January for signing up for MP. It also said that  after February 1st I would no longer be able to revise, re-list or list new items. It's a gamble at this point :-).

Re: February 1st Profile Update Cutoff

I got one of those nastygrams even though I've been in MP since the day BEFORE the cutoff date.

It's a shame they never seem to know what they're doing.
