I began selling on e-Bay seven years ago and have logged approximately 1800 sales. The title of my query exists as an option on my selling page. Please share opinions concerning its accuracy and I thank all.

That number has been offered for a long time, so it seems to be based on data that was collected years ago. Even then, the actual effect probably varied a lot from one category to another. Nevertheless, there is plenty of research which shows that buyers do favor items with "free" shipping.
Unfortunately, for items over a pound or two, the cost of shipping varies significantly depending on distance (unless the Priority Mail flat rate boxes are your best option, usually only for heavy items). This makes it difficult to set a fair price for your item when the cost of shipping is included in your asking price. Setting a flat price for shipping (including free) inevitably will overcharge some buyers and undercharge others.
The exception to the above paragraph would be Media Mail, which has a price that doesn't vary by distance. Sellers who ship Media Mail can easily add the shipping cost to their asking price though this does make it impossible to offer combined-shipping discounts for multiple purchases.

I feel sure ebay has stats to prove the percentage......but it would be based on all items....... Whether it would help a particular particular seller for a particular item could be argued......depending on what the competition does......
It's the old "free shipping" question........ask a buyer if he wants free shipping and he will certainly say yes....but since shipping is a cost to a seller that has to be covered somewhere, the buyer doesn't necessarily understand the price will generally have to be higher to cover the shipping cost.
There are those buyers who will only shop "free shipping" items.......how significant a number that cohort is for your items.....only you can tell by testing.........run some with/some without and see which does better sales........

I guess you could say I have some strong feelings on this. From what I have learned its about 75% of sellers that offer free shipping. I would have to guess that ebay would prefer that you be a TRS instead.
I offer free shipping to California only. if you really want to increase the money and sales I would try to get into the TRS program and stay there.
30 day free returns makes a big difference in buyer faith and saves me on my FVF

It's an estimate, not a guarantee.
And notice that is says improve SALES, not improve PROFITS 🙂
