By way of experiment I inserted an extra word into the title box of a book listing as required by eBay rules instituted without seller input. For the last several days I searched for that item adding the extra word. Been about 5 days and it still doesn't turn up. I can't even search successfully for it within my store using that word.
So what gives? Surely if you are making people waste their time typing in info already available in the title and description, there must be some benefit, right? The software must be ready to go, no? What gives?
TIA

I've noticed the exact same thing with Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPN) at the very least.
Also just have done title searches on ebay recently that came up with 0 results - Searched the exact same thing on google and found ebay items that were currently running - opened one of them and searched again using the exact same keywords on that browser and the search populated several results... You would think it would be intuitive to find it, but our experience is it does not.
We tested by expanding on the item specific drop down boxes and enhancing what was there. Our items were not matching in search as a result. When edited to capture e-Bay's default in the drop down, they sold.
