FEDEX scam on Ebay

SELLERS BEWARE, Tho FEDEX WILL allow you to add additional insurance to cover the item and ebay allows you to add it, FEDEX does not cover the cost of the item and will only pay up to $1,000.00 not even if you have proof that the item sold for $3,000.00 dollars they will only pay $1,000.00 if that.

happened to me it was clearly stated in FEDEX documents that the item was damaged in their possession and that I paid for the additional insurance but FEDEX claimed you did not read the small print, (which ebay does not provide) they don't cover any more then $1,000. on many items which is most of what we list on Ebay including collectables and art work and sooooo much more.

don't believe me look it up on the FEDEX website.

https://www.fedex.com/en-us/service-guide/terms/express-ground-samedaycity.html#declared-value-for-c....

( I know it states international at the end but it applies to all when you go to the drop down its the same wording)

this was provided to me by a FEDEX worker. my item was $3680.00 and was destroyed in shipping by FEDEX and they acknowledged it but I'm only getting $1,000.00 and I called Ebay thinking I was Seller Guaranteed and was told I'm on my own (cost of doing business) they don't get involved with the carriers, even tho they allow the scam on the shipping. I checked all the areas when it comes to terms and conditions when I'm about to ship the item and nowhere does it state what I was showed by FEDEX,  wish you were on the phone with me when I called Ebay and was told your "#$#%D"  by Danial and there is nothing Ebay will do about it. The items that FEDEX has on that list is just about everything we sell on Ebay and if its not listed they use the word "commodity" and that fills in the rest. Ebay tells me I should have read the small print and they are not responsible but they allow it on their site, they don't allow scammers on their site but they approve this scam.

when you ship an item that is too large and a high cost you have 3 options with Ebay (and remember you need to stay with the Ebay process to qualify for the Ebay protection)  USPS, UPS and FEDEX

well its too large so USPS will not ship it so there are no options to click on, then you have UPS but they only insure up to $1,000. (at least they are honest and tell you that) your left with one choice and its FEDEX and they will ship it and will allow you to put in extra shipping to cover the cost of the item, but they will only cover up to $1,000.00 no more even if you paid to cover the amount it sold for. good luck to get that. unfortunately Ebay feels that's between you and the carrier, (as per Danial with Ebay) even tho Danial could not show me where this is stated in black and white on Ebay's website, Danial states because its NOT stated you will not be backed up by Ebay you "will" loose your money. Danial told me it happened to him too and he was out thousands of dollars on an item damaged in shipping. WOW

been a seller for a long time on Ebay made them lots of money but I know where they stand when it comes to protecting their sellers.

SAD, but would not be surprised if this posting gets deleted.

FEDEX scam on Ebay

I thought the following (as it is when shipping USPS)

1.) The 'insurance' is purchased for $XX for each $100 of value, a value that you-the seller-input.

2.) The max is shown when purchasing insurance?

Again- both are true when doing USPS.

why deleted??

You need to know what the shipper will and will not cover:

Not eBays problem at all. It all you, so you out the money and the item...

Well you just learned that if you can not afford to lose item and money payed for it do not list it on the Internets.

yes USPS but if the item is too large to ship with USPS and more then the limit UPS gives you of $1,000.00 insurance you only have FED EX and they are lying to you. the item I shipped was a large framed art work.

Hard Lesson, none of the shippers are interested in paying insurance claims. We double and triple pad and even double box to prevent damage. So much time and effort to even file a case is such a waste of time. Even lost packages are not covered fully. Good luck...just assume and claim a loss as a business expense.

Fed Ex has been doing that for a long time. Yes they will charge you and let you insure an item over the $1000 payout. I am surprised there has not been a class action against them for this especially since they know this. I like using Fed Ex for a lot of shipments and have had little issues with them but they really should be more upfront on their insurance coverage.

If Fed Ex allowed you to purchase insurance for your $3,680 item, you can sue and you will definitely win! If they didn't cover the cost, they shouldn't have sold you the product.

FedEx's argument will never hold up in court. You can't accept payment for a product or service, then refuse to provide that product or service, the law affords no one such a right to do that. Its called false advertising, sue them!

FedEx terms are irrelevant the moment they accepted your payment for a service they claim they dont offer. Total fraud.

I wish, talked to my lawyer, its called small print and its posted on their website, just like a contract we sign. I check the box where it stated terms and conditions and that includes the website. its a scam and ebay is in on it.

I tried reading the link; too much verbiage. What I'm asking is, how are you charged for the insurance, per $100 of value? Did it allow you to pay 36.8 times the $100 value- or only 10 times that amount?

Also know- it is NOT a requirement to purchase labels on ebay; you can use your own labels, buy them direct on line, from various places, even businesses with a contract and their own warehouse and can pay for/print labels from UPS or Fedex (for those with accounts that give them a better price)-

what IS required, is that you input the tracking number in the sale.

FEDEX scam on Ebay

not sure on the charge it what the drop down box shows me on ebay shipping.

yes you are right I can go anywhere to ship, but if you read the ebay moneyback guarantee and seller guarantee they provide you with a list of shippers. (had ebay show me that)  most are there.

my issue is I was given a false sense of security on ebay I was under the impression that I was covered and even tho I read the terms and conditions it did not state that it was a max of 1,000.00. if FEDEX was not going to pay anything over $1,000.00 why would they let FEDEX offer the cost to insure over that amount.
