Expected delivery dates suddenly very unrealistic?

IMG_4544.jpegHas anyone else noticed this over the past few days? (Ok.  Maybe not too unrealistic as it seems they are saying 4 business days on average?  That said, I’ve had CA deliveries take 8 days and those were not showing these 4 day expected dates)  Naybe 5 days max for GA is unrealistic?  I’ve had some super fast deliveries but most take more than that

My handling time is 3 days (does not include Saturday) and I ship everything ground advantage.

EBAY is giving buyer estimated delivery dates of 3 days no matter how far away or irrespective of my handling times.

It wasnt  like this until about 3 days ago.  I’m confused.  Anyone else seeing it?  I understand I’m covered if I’m shipping within my handling frame (usually next day but I give myself a cushion) but it still leaves room for disgruntled buyers who might take EBAYs word for this estimated time and, in some cases, the expected delivery date isn’t even 3 days which would just cover my handling time.

Any idea why this has switched?  Thanks

Example #1   This item leaves the East coast (me) headed to Alabama.  They bought on 10.26  I’ve 3 day handling time, and EBAY tells buyer expected delivery date is TODAY, 10.31.  I shipped it on 10/27 and it’s still en route.

Example #2   This item is going from East coast to CA   They bought on 10.27 I shipped on 10.28.  EBAY is estimating delivery date as of 11.02.

Example #3  This item from East coast to Minnesota.   Bought 10/26 shipped 10/27 EBAY to buyer for delivery TODAY 10/31.

date shown to buyer.jpg

Mine have been that way since................... long time. They go by my "historical shipping data" with no accounting for my stated handling time.

Re: Expected delivery dates suddenly very unrealistic?

I looked at a handful of your listings (Ground Advantage) and I see this:

If I change my location to the West Coast I see this:

I do see your 3 day handling but if you consistently ship faster than that eBay will adjust the delivery estimate.

Re: Expected delivery dates suddenly very unrealistic?

Well then that is what’s happening.  (They are using my usual “next day ship” metric but that kind of puts the pressure on and they are setting up a bad buyer experience IMHO.  Ironically, today is my first day of not heading to the po for a sale made yesterday.  I will go tomorrow but that’s going to sting for the buyer and yet I am within my rights to do so.

Re: Expected delivery dates suddenly very unrealistic?

Regarding not heading to the post office today, I just did my expenses for taxes up through end of October.  I’ve only just started selling mid August and WOW the amount of trips I’ve made to the post office and sourcing is eye opening.  I might buy a beater car for all of this as I hate putting all of those hard miles on my vehicle.

I didn’t realize just how many I make until I looked at the receipts and put pen  to paper.

Re: Expected delivery dates suddenly very unrealistic?

What pressure? eBay will be happy as long as you ship and get a scan within your handling time, I suspect the majority of buyers pay little attention to the delivery estimates until it seems to them to be late.

If I bought today and you shipped Tuesday I would still get it by the 9th which is the latest date shown to me (600 miles away).
