I'm having one major issue right now with my sales. I'm from Portugal and in the middle of a global pandemic, ebay gives a delivery estimate time of roughly 10-15 days after the purchase to someone in the US for example. If I happen to buy something from that same person, the estimate for me is around 2 months. Which is correct, because there are a lot of delays and lots of stuff is being shipped by boat instead of plane.
Of course this leads to a lot of buyers being unhappy and opening cases on me for items not showing up. Even when I message telling them it will probably take 60 days they just don't read or don't care and open a case anyway.
I contacted ebay several times about this but it feels like talking to a wall (or a badly programmed bot) and the issue persists.
How can there be such a difference in an estimate from one way to the other? It makes no sense and its enfuriating there is zero aknowledge by ebay of the issue, even after I emailed them several times.

eBay will tell you it is working as intended. No matter what you set your handling times at eBay will show whatever delivery date they see fit based on your shipping history. I just upped mine from 5-days to 10-day to temporarily combat this. Later I will have to up it again once eBay decides to screw with me further.
i care less what ebay gives as a delivery time, someone buys, I ship within 1 business day, when they get the package they get package, no one has complained and those I talked to understood the situation.

It depends on what eBay chooses to show and how accurate it is. Also by lying to buyers about shipping times eBay is creating a bad buying experience.
true, and understood, but on the other hand, I cannot control the outcome of delivery times from carriers, and I won't justify them either. In general most packages have been delivered on time or within a day or so of expected date, but some have wondered...more like sat, at a facility for a week/two and I then contact USPS and do the case/missing report...in other words, when a package delays I contact the buyers, I explain the situation and let them know I am taking care of the issue with USPS.

What you don't realise is that you can only open a case for item not received after the estimate date is passed. If the estimate was correct I wouldn't have cases open on me by buyers left and right. Who almost ever are from the US, some don't even realise that item was sent from Portugal. And I warn everybody when I ship the package about the possible delays. And when you try to talk to them, its like they don't understand english at all, its so frustating.
And you are talking about a few days difference, while for international shipping we are talking about 60 days of expected delivery time right now. To me it shows acurately when I purchase from the US. If someone from the US buys from me, it tells them they should receive it in 15 days. Doesn't make any sense how can it be like that

i realize all you said, and another reason why I don't sell outside immediate US on ebay.
