Received that message today. Looks like eBay wants all Power sellers to fall in line forcing returns and other requirements like TOP RATED.
Well, not for me as I small seller with little inventory I CAN NOT afford returns free or other wise.
Sad, to have provided great service for years only to be taken down and handed my marching papers!
FALL IN LINE!

@craigsfinds wrote:Last time I checked, being a "Top Rated Seller" does not mean much unless I offer free returns. I don't get the TRS discounts and my TRS badge is not shown in my listings. Please correct me if I'm missing something.
The one thing I noticed for a TRS sending a Priority Package you get $100 of Insurance. If you are not a TRS then you only get $50. So if your Priority Package is in the $51 to $100 you save $2.95 for the USPS Insurance Fee. The $2.95 savings only works in this one instance of $51 to $100.
If you need $101 of Insurance the rate is $3.60. It would seem that since you already have $100 Insurance you would only need to pay the difference between $2.95 and $3.60 of $0.65. But nope, if you value is over $100 then there is no free insurance and you pay full rate.

Can't let this forum end too soon. There were definitely a few times back in the day I let some buyers know I was right because I was a "Power Seller" and they were not.

The titles eBay gives have little to NO meaning for some people, but to some of us sellers it is rewarding to be acknowledged for our good work and great service without financial rewards...
Perhaps, old values have died and replaced by emptiness, but acknowledgement still feels good. When the $$ don't roll in, but the compliments do feels good!
Wish all of your the best on your journey ...

I hear you, and when buyers complain is it legit or remorse. eBay has opened the door for scammers, and used sellers $$ to support them!
I appreciate the little acknowledgement I have received in 21 years (other ID), and my feedback is owed 1,000+
It costs eBay zero $$ to extend the olive branch and give credit where credit is due; yet ebay is more concerned about redundant titles then honoring GREAT work in any fashion.. ebay sends useless suggestions that don't apply to listings. ACKNOWLEDGE YOU SELLERS ON THE SIMPLEST PLATFORM.

No, I think eBay wants sellers to "PAY" for the benefits they used to provide to sellers who earned it.
Why give a seller a dedicated customer support access for being a high volume seller, when they can force that seller to pay for a high priced store subscription to get that same access?
And if the Power Seller program is redundant because eBay rolled most of its benefits into the TRS program, why not have a tiered TRS program?
Why should the seller who completes 100 transactions with good customer service be on the same level as the one who does 10,000 in a calendar year (selling same value items)? The more volume a seller pushes out the more money they make for eBay.
Short of subscribing to higher tiered stores, what perks are there for being a high volume seller?
Everyone should strive to be a TRS. That's good business practice. What sets sellers apart are those who obtain TRS and are capable of selling a lot.
It's the difference between those selling "widgets" and those making a living. However, eBay treats them the same.

When a buyer submits payment, the item is considered paid. Whether you are in MP or not. But the driving factor on when you should ship as a seller is the handling time the seller chooses to have on their listings. So if you have 1 day handling, then you need to ship within 1 day. If you have 5 day handling, then you need to ship within 5 days.
Once a buyer submits a payment, whether it is in MP or PP, the buyer can not change, cancel or otherwise mess with that payment. They can't in MP and they never could in PP either.

Please don't take offense to this, but is a pat on the back and a thumbs up from ebay (and a non-personalized/digital one, at that) really something that motivates you and keeps you going?
Personally, I take pride and joy in knowing that I am an honest seller and that I provide excellent customer service when it's required. I package everything carefully, thoughtfully and neatly. I take excellent photos and write accurate, detailed descriptions. And I always get my items to the post office same day or next day at the latest.
Knowing I am doing all I can to make my customers happy is all I need to keep me going. 😀

Buy removing power seller badge results in absolutly no impact to a top rated seller or plus! It merely gave us an award in our nacisstic mind for attaining a goal! Buy doing away with it levels the playing field in the minds of sellers that fail in their design to reach for that power seller ring! It surely will help satisfy those that do not perform in a manner qauged or set forth in a monitary value situation!

Size of seller doesn't affect that, it's how much you charge that does so if you can't afford it then you need to charge more.

I didn't even know PS was around anymore. I doubt buyers care how much money sellers make on this platform, which was basically what it was about - it was nice when it actually meant something, I got a charge out of being silver power seller when I was only a part-timer and you had to bring in 3K a month, but its been a while for that, with entry level bronze being almost meaningless. No 'old values' dying and being replaced by emptiness. Just a program which has long outlived its usefulness.

I learned that if I sell something on Friday, it will be Wednesday when I get paid.
I believe any normal business practice is to ensure payment before shipping.
I don't think Ebay is waiting until Wednesday!

You are ensured payment from the moment a buyer has paid. The system pings that buyer's funding source at that time to make sure the charge will be honored. A buyer has NO ability to change, cancel or otherwise mess with their payment once they submit the payment. They can't do it in MP anymore than they were ever able to do it in PP. You will get that money.
So your payment is ensured, it just takes a little time to get the actual money from the funding source to our accounts.
FYI, plenty of other sites REQUIRE you ship before money is released to the seller. Etsy which has the same money processor as Ebay requires this. Amazon requires it. Mercari requires this. Etc.
