Buyer claims I sent empty box......of course I was selling expensive leather jacket.....usps just notified me return box is not same weight as sent box.....because he is sending back empty box.....I reported buyer but a new surprise showed up....I did a spokeo check on his name and guess what... he does not live in Washington State where I sent the box......there are 2 men living at the address with different names.....and it says my buyer lives in San Diego, CA.......so I am guessing they are using someone else's ebay profile to top it all off.
How do we protect ourselves from these scammers!!!!!!????? I am so stressed out .....I got scammed years ago and never got my sterling silver back found out the guy was a well known thief and the site promptly refunded him. I was put through hell......

Elon musk created a gravity calculator attached to SpaceX with the intent of helping eBay sellers. With a couple of snaps, you can see the item weight carried in and out by the mail man.

You might want to investigate that further. People forget to tell me things all the time, possibly because I am 92 and they may feel that what I don't know won't hurt me or that I will forget immediately. Just sayin'. Does that apply in your case?

Stop selling expensive stuff here... eBay is not the proper place to sell expensive items, and will not be until eBay gets serious about developing some sort of anti-scam insurance or other means of confronting the ongoing rise in scamming.
It would only be to eBay's advantage to do so -- just think of the windfall of profits eBay could make when hesitant sellers resume selling expensive items here because they could trust eBay with them again.
But, that's shortsighted eBay!
