Edited item (for quantity only) and returns changed to Seller Does Not Accept

The return policy is sometimes being set to 'Seller Does Not Accept Returns' after an edit for something else is complete. This despite the fact that return policy was set to '30 days' before the edit.

Take listing 273042710235, for instance. Someone purchased from that listing, which set the quantity to 0. We still had one, so I edited the ad to change QUANTITY ONLY. (Back to 1.) I had earlier noticed a few recently edited listings saying 'No Returns' now, so I started paying attention. Before the quantity edit of 273042710235, returns were set to '30 days'. After the edits were saved they're set to 'Does Not Accept'. This does not happen for every listing, but there is a 'tell' to let you know when it will, before you save. If, during the edits you do NOT see the Returns Options section presented, it's going to delete your existing return selections if you save your edits. I confirmed this. Listing 272740142274 was set up for '30 day' returns but, unlike the previous example, it still had the Return Options section presented during the edit process, and it retained '30 day' returns after the edits were saved.

I know eBay recommends not making edits while the whole Item Specifics and Categories update is going on, but I am only editing quantity from 0 to 1. It is not reasonable to expect sellers to stop selling items for up to 3+ days. An edit to quantity, price, description, etc is totally unrelated to Specifics or Categories and there should be allowances for us to make changes to some or all of those unrelated elements (certainly critical ones like quantity and price) without breaking something else...

I don't know if this will help for next time but...

When I am only updating quantity I do it from the Seller Hub listings page - you don't have to click revise listing, go in there and then save the listing you just click on the available quantity number and change it.

Are you talking about checking the Edit boxes next to each listing you want to change and then choosing the Edit Selected option to get to the 'bulk' edit listings tool where it looks kind of like a spreadsheet? If so, it does the same thing there. I usually use that tool when I have multiple items to edit back to quantity 1. The Return Options section is missing there too.

I'm guessing these are items in categories that will be replaced by a different category, so this is an unintended consequence. It's ridiculous though. We should be able to update quantity, price, handling time, etc without ANY concern that something else will break. Quantity especially. It's not reasonable for eBay to expect us to sit on our hands and wait for them to finish. Not for 3+ days!! It's revenue impacting.

Ah it sounds like you're already using the same page. It looks like a spread sheet and has the bulk editing options.

I had a similar problem last week after I revised some photos my Global Shipping options were gone but they came back on their own after a while. I really wish they would fix these issues.

Many of the new Parts & Accessories categories do not have returns turned on.  As you noted, it isn't even an option on the Sell Your Item/eBay site-based editing tool.  BIG problem if you are TRS and rely on the benefits of that status.

Have your sales been affected?

@partsaholic

Yes, because I cannot update the quantity from zero on some things that have sold. So we've just been leaving those out there at zero quantity, even though we got more in.

Just to be clear: If you do not edit the listing, the previous Returns options still apply. So you can have returns displayed in those categories... as long as you don't edit the listing for any reason. It is only if you edit (to update quantity, for instance) that Returns is changed to "Seller Does Not Accept".

As a result of this, I've started editing each listing individually. (ie - a major pain) Because I need to check to see if the Returns selections appear during the edits. If they do not, they are going to be removed from the listing and I just stop my edits and leave that listing at zero. So there's the loss in revenue. No sales are possible for zero quantity listings...

This is still an issue as of 5 minutes ago. Please contact someone who can have this problem fixed asap. It is not reasonable to expect sellers to suffer loss of revenue for 6+ days while this Item Specifics and Categories update drags on. I usually don't want listings out there that say No Returns, for obvious reasons. Thank you.

Edited item (for quantity only) and returns changed to Seller Does Not Accept

This is Day 11, eBay...  Return options are still not appearing for many categories in eBay Motors>>Parts & Accessories>>Car & Truck Parts & Accessories.

Returns should always be an option in every listing. Sellers should get to decide when to use No Returns.

Please fix this asap. It's a giant catch-22. (Settling on No Returns gets us 'penalized' by eBay and it turns off buyers. But if we list in a different category, it is in the wrong place and requires us to re-enter all Item Specifics. It's a lose-lose situation...)
