Hopefully someone reads this. If you are a seller then Ebay will not verify credit union checking accounts. So, when you sell something, you can't get your money if you are with a credit union. I have spent a combined 4 hours with customer service across three weeks and Ebay refuses to verify my credit union checking account or explain why they won't verify it, and says that to receive the $640 I got from sales I will need to open a bank account with a "reputable" bank. Ebay is filled with thieves and their customer service is worthless. They are all a bunch of bums. Were it not for monopoly Ebay would be in the dust bin where they belong.

For some reason, ebay does not accept certain banks. If you want your money and you want to continue to sell, you have to get a new bank account. There are many banks that allow you to have a checking for free. Failure to get a bank account will make ebay stop you from selling. You have no choice in this matter.

I use a small local bank in the Mid-Atlantic area and had no problem with it. When I went to Amazon only two American banks I recognized were MBNA which is not convinient and Wells Fargo which has received so much bad press lately for (allegedly) illegal business practices that I don't trust them.
I don't understand why credit unions would be a problem. Haven't heard any press reports on them.

Hi @jevos21
If you feel that eBay is untrustworthy ... then I would think you wouldn't want to entrust them with information to your personal checking account.
Many sellers open an online checking account to use just for eBay selling. That would solve both the problem of having a 'reputable' bank ... and keep eBay 'thieves' away from your personal account.

No that is simply not true, I only bank with a credit union, signed up and been verified with manage payments since early 2020.

We hooked onto our credit union. The only bank we use. No problem.

Prior to Managed Payments, if you made a sale where did you receive your proceeds?
Paypal...right?
You had to set that up to receive payments from your ebay sales....
what's the big deal about setting up an account from one of the multitude of 'free' options available to you?
I don't understand the resistance to this basic business function.....

eBay accepted my East Podunk 4-branch credit union check account with no problem at all. YMMV of course.

I only use a Credit Union. Just 4 branches as well. No problems in 4 yrs.

A Credit Union isn't a real bank.
A few have been able to use a Credit Union and haven't had any problems, yet.
Why do they approve some and not others, don't know?

I'm not sure how you're drawing that conclusion, but credit unions can perform all the same functions as a bank. The credit union I'm using for my eBay sales offers Savings accounts, Checking accounts, loans, mortgages, business accounts, etc. You name it.
All eBay/Adyen want to see is a valid ACH routing number and a Checking account number for your financial institution. Beyond that, I don't think they care whether it's a bank or a CU.

Credit Union accounts are perfectly fine with eBay. You must provide a working Account Clearing House ("routing") number for your Credit Union along with your full Checking account number. The name on your Checking account must be an exact match for your eBay account.
How far did you get in linking your CU account with your eBay selling account, and what exactly went wrong?

I use BOA which some have reported having issues with, but my daughter uses a CU checking with no issues also.
Some Credit Unions do have a quirk where the checking account number may actually have an extra number (to denote it's checking presumably) and if you use that full number it's not recognized as a valid number for direct deposits/withdrawals, so check your account number.

When you fill out application for Managed Payments you only need to include checking account (ROUTING# ONLY). I would check with your credit union and find out exactly which numbers routing#.

Good point there. My CU adds a sequence number on either the beginning or the end of the account (I forget which) that's not actually part of the publicly-visible Checking account number. I had to not include that sequence number when providing my Checking account number (along with the CU's Routing number) to eBay.
