I have a bag of jewelry boxes, bags, presentation cases and more. My mother was a lonely QVC addict and I'm tasked with trying to sell off this stuff.
So I list (for $ 19.99) this big lot of cases and bags and stuff and the fees with one picture come to $ 3.34. I have it saved as a draft, but how do I find out what the fees are for and why they are such a stupid amount?

The $ 2.99 they assume I want is for some listing extra that I've never seen before. When I click the $ 3.34 it tells me my listing fee is thirty five cents.
But, it hates my item specifics so I guess I will list it somewhere else.
Thank you though!!! I never knew that.

I just realized I'm being hit with insertion fees of thirty-five cents, so that explains some of it.

When you get to the bottom of the listing form where the total fee is shown (your mysterious $3.34, apparently), clicking on the price itself should pop up a line-item listing of the charges. (That's on the full listing form. If you're trying to do this via mobile, I'm not sure what you will see.)

Let me try that.

What is it called that self-loaded and is so expensive?

They have already decided that I want to pay $ 2.99 for a Sponsored Ad. It's not checked, but they have added the money to the fees.

@valueaddedresource has been following sponsored ads pretty closely and might be able to give you more info or tell you how to turn it off. Based on the rate and the upfront charge, this appears to be for an auction format listing.

@divwido that does sound like Promoted Listings Express for Auctions
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Promoted-Listings-Express-For-Auctions/td-p/32299373
However, when I tested it before, the option to promote for an extra flat fee wasn't shown until after the auction went live - it wasn't combined with other listing fees and wasn't shown when the auction is in the "draft" state, only available after it was listed.
The FAQ pages still show it only as an option after listing as well.

adsteam@ebay - has the process for Promoted Listings Express changed where it is now in the listing flow and shown in draft along with other listing fees instead of only shown as an option after completing the listing?

I would love to know how I choose to add something I knew nothing about. It wasn't even checked and ebay was billing me for it. That's not something I want to see happen a lot. Not at Three bucks an auction.

@divwido you can see screenshots of what it looked like for me here.
The option to promote only came up after the listing was live and it was very clear what the fee was for.
If they are adding it in with other fees now, I agree that's not a great change.

The option to accept or not was mine. The fee was included regardless of what I do. The fee was the $ 2.99 plus thirty five cents whether I checked the box or not. That is the issue.

Hello @valueaddedresource and @divwido,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our product team investigated the issue, and we can confirm that no seller was charged a fee if they did not opted into using Promoted Listings Express.
We recently updated Promoted Listings Express to include more ways for sellers to use it. If your item is eligible, you’ll see an option to use Promoted Listings Express in the following places:
During the rollout of this update, a bug appeared that would show Promoted Listings Express fees applied to new auction listings created through “Sell it Faster” in the classic listing tool. This was only a user interface issue, and no one was charged for using Promoted Listings Express unless they purposefully opted into it. A bugfix was rolled out this morning to fix this.
Please let us know if you continue to experience this issue. Thank you for being a valued seller and an important part of our community on eBay.
