Ebay seller videos on Youtube sound like Ebay propaganda lately.

Anyone get the feeling from all these you tube seller channels they are all sounding like ebay propaganda videos.. I tried some of the stuff they are spouting and it dont work, but for them they make hundreds of thousands. On top of it they all made it to the Ebay open last month. I think lot of us here especialy from the old days are being hoodwinked. Propaganda before the fall. I am **bleep** off because my sales plummeted in the last 30 days to zero. I am not a big seller, 5 a month, but zero, no offers and i have been monitoring traffic which is incidently ZERO. So how in the hell is anyone supposed to sell anything with zero traffic, I am better off on craigslist. HAHAHA

Yea.

Let's say that you are a successful eBay seller,  making "hundreds of thousands". Would you create a YouTube video that teaches other sellers how to compete with you and take your customers?

The only people being "hoodwinked" are the ones who are naive enough to think that someone who has worked hard to build a successful eBay stategy is going to give it away on YouTube.

Sorry to say but there is very little demand in what you are selling and your prices could use some adjustments. Also for what you are selling to make more sells then you currently are getting, instead of listing 80 books, you would need to list 800 books. I assume the videos you watched are selling things reasonably priced and in demand. They also probably have thousands of items listed.

Just like ebay or anywhere else, let the buyer beware.......  Some things are appropriate for some/not for others, some is bull, some anyone can figure out....

If they  are making their money touting/teaching ebay, certainly understandable they would go to ebay open.

You are selling in a niche market.....  perhaps diversity would increase sales.

Old books are slow money, but reasonably safe money.  It will take a LONG TIME to sell them (long as in a couple of years for some), but most will eventually sell.  You have to be patient if that's all you sell.

The one huge upside to old books is that returns on properly described books should be zero. Nobody buys these just to read and return, they buy them because they want them for collections.

I'm trying to diversify with a few different things, but my core is still old cookbooks and recipe booklets. Try adding in different types of items to attract new eyes and hopefully buyers.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Double check your shipping setting and make sure you have the right shipping for that area set up.  I am not saying you do not, just saying make sure everything is still the same.

Those YouTube video are probably telling you haow they did great with a product and either want you to buy the products from them to sell or to have you use them as a drop shipper and that is how they can profit off giving you info on how and what to sell.

Good Luck Selling!

Re: Ebay seller videos on Youtube sound like Ebay propaganda lately.

Canada changed its import taxes drastically in the past year. I mean from the same item, $7 to $80 customs fee, kind of change. Sales to Canada are dead for me. If that is your market, perhaps you need to figure out what the customs levels are exactly and sell everything you can under that price point with shipping a separate fee. Or find a new niche. Or figure out a legal way around customs, etc.
