It's too bad all of us can't name which celebrities we've sold to before. It'd be interesting o hear who we've all sold to.
When you find out you've sold to a star, it's pretty cool... I'm just sayin'

Wow it seems a lot of famous musicians buy stuff on eBay.

Me too. When I first started selling all of my childhood magazine posters from the 80s I sold some in bulk. I put together 20 posters of Kirk Cameron that actually sold to a museum in Hollywood, CA. Who would have thought posters that hung on my wall as a kid & teen would go to a museum. But of course my husband said it was most likely just someone who worked there who bought it but who knows. They were in wonderful shape.
Either that or it was to the Hollywood Museum of Sucky Actors.... buuuuuuurn lol. Just kidding, I watched his show a lot as a kid too.

I never thought of this possibility . I don't think I've ever sold to a famous person before but I'd like to . The closest I ever came to a celebrity was one night many years ago in Palm Springs CA. Walking past a sidewalk cafe we seen Dinah Shore leaving with some friends . We said hi to her and she said hi back ,, but that was it. Tulips

I've never sold to a star but I have a cousin (I've never met) who is married to one.

This happened about 15 years ago. I don't think it was an Ebay sale, but pretty cool anyway.
The office manager of a place I used to work is married to this guy who sells vintage stuff for a living. Mostly German cars and parts, but he used to sell vintage instruments, particularly guitars. He had a vintage Telecaster he was selling, asking around $15k. He was fielding various calls, and he gets one from a guy who identified himself as "Ed". Ed asked a bunch of questions, requested more pictures, etc. It was clear he knew what to ask and was very interested. He ended up agreeing to pay full asking price. Then he asked if a personal check was OK, and the seller said sure. The check arrives, and "Ed" is actually Edward Vedder.

@bigdeals.etc wrote:A little off topic... when it was still on the air, my siblings and I discovered that our family has the exact same dining table/chair set as the Bundys in Married with Children. Not sure if that's such a good thing to brag about though, haha.
The movie 13 Going On 30 has my exact childhood bedroom furniture on it. We still have the dresser and desk which is in my teen daughters room now.

My favorite was selling a book to a big-name author who is a favorite of mine. She writes historical fiction and the book was on a topic I could see dovetailed with her stories. I included a note telling her how much I enjoyed her latest book. She must get fan mail by the canvas bag but I felt a little thrill at being able to make a connection, however tenuous.

I think some of these selling stories would do well on the story contest thread
This is not an eBay story, but is a star story. Many years ago a woman came to our office door and wanted to know if her company could rent the front fields for a movie they were filming on the highway nearby. They wanted to film Matthew Broderick running naked through the grass. The women in the office were hysterical -- could they get off to watch the filming? I had no clue who this "star" was, but we agreed and I have the certificate of liability from the film studio and the contingent rental agreement. Alas, to the dismay of the woman, that scene did not take place.

I had a signed book that was apparently bought from me by the same author. The buyer had the same name and location. I suspect that to protect privacy some big name celebrities have their orders placed by an assistant.

I had an order in September, 2017 for a pair of books going to the Smithsonian - nothing for display, I suspect they were most likely to used as reference/research copies as they were old historical magazines bound into really nice covers.
Being the guardians of antiquity that they are, they made payment with an e-check. I thought that was quaint.

everyone who buys and pays is a star in my book.

Nothing recently for me, but 15-20 years ago I had quite a few laserdiscs. I had a sealed special edition of a certain Disney animated feature and one of the animators bought it. Another laserdisc story: A lady wrote me and said that her brother, who died quite young, was in a movie that was only released on laserdisc. She asked if she bought it, having no player herself, could I dub it onto VHS to send along with the disc. I did and she was quite gratefull, as I recall.
I listed a hardcover Sherlock Holmes pastiche with an inscription inside that appeared to be from the author. I of course said in the listing that I couldn't prove it was actually inscribed by the author. I then heard from the author himself who said yes that it was his inscription and he bought the book. Another author bought a paperback copy of one of his books from me. I took the book off the shelf to ship and found a card inside. It had the footprint of my newborn son (born around 20 years earlier) on it. Evidently that was the book I was reading while I was at the hospital awaiting his birth, tucking the card in the book and then forgeting about it.
When I sold off my collection of pulp magazines such as Thrilling Wonder Stories and the like, I was contacted by the family of an artist who painted many of those covers. They were filling in gaps in the family collection in an effort to find as many printed examples of his work.
There may be more, but here's the last one I can recall: I was selling off my collection of vintage sheet music. A gentleman bought a piece from me which was the music for the theme from a certain movie. As was often the case, the picture on the cover was a shot of some of the stars of the movie. The guy said "See the lady being kissed by the star? She was my mother."

I think you should post the story of the footprint to the story contest thread.
