Ebay's new webp compressed image format gives the poorest results

Let me explain and see the attached images, I sell antique graphics, books and magazines. Showing readable legible text and fine details in graphics is a must in my images. I am a photographer and have a few thousand dollars invested in equipment in order to provide high definition images of my inventory on ebay. Additionally I have an Adobe subscription in order to properly process these images into the standard jpg format with enough resolution that when enlarged the details, quality and any damage can be scrutinized properly.

Ebay without notice or without my permission has changed my images from jpg to the inferior webp format. My images average 3.5 mb & average 4800x2500 pixels and in the new webp format are only 260 kb & 1600x1000 pixels offering the poorest resolution and visual representation. If you compare the images my jpg is clear, sharp and every detail is visible when magnified before the implementation of the webp format. In the webp format the details are blurry, and fine text cannot be read. It is an 80% reduction in image quality. This is not acceptable.

In the new webp format the images in my listings are no longer my images. I claim that ebay is severely misrepresenting the items in my listings. The new ebay webp images no longer accurately represent my inventory.  I not just want, but need to display my inventory in jpg format to accurately show my products.

On a desktop the jpg image can be enlarged to see every detail, the webp cannot. Check the attached images.Oh! Maybe they will compress them too. Let me know what you think. Can you see the difference?

And then return it (on your dime) because it wasn't as expected...
