Hi, I'm a seller and I have free returns. I noticed with the last 2 returns that the automated return label wasn't generating for the customer. The return status is "provide a return label" with options to upload my own label, etc. I called ebay support and they said it's because my return address is a PO Box (it has been for over 8 years). The solution is that ebay support is generating a label to my PO Box, and that will take 3 days. My question is, when did this change? I don't remember seeing any updates about it. And is ebay support giving me the right information (since sometimes they don't). I don't get many returns so this may have changed a long time ago and I'm just finding out now. Thank you.

It's always been the sellers responsibility to make sure your return address is correct/current.
As far as ebay not letting the customer generate a return label,
that should be a choice you make when you accept a return...
( ) Let the customer print out a return label via ebay.
( ) Provide your own return label to the buyer.

I issued a return label to a customer last night and it went thru, I have a P O Box return address on all my packages, could be something new.

I never heard anything like what customer support told you about PO boxes.
By any chance are these international orders?
I know ebay can't generate return labels for international orders.

No, they're domestic orders. I looked in the ebay seller information and on the addresses page and nowhere does it say that ebay labels cannot be used for returns to a PO Box. I had the setting for automatic approval of returns turned on. I wonder there's a bug. I turned that setting off to see if it changes anything ongoing. I've been using this PO Box address for 8 years without a problem until now.

If it was me I wouldn't risk the time running out - I would purchase a label and upload it.

There is a (return address) you might want to check that, it can differ from the original shipped..
Was reading how some have ups box for retail returns, they are video documenting the return package opening, one too many empty box returns.?

3 days? Are they sending it out @studiodeflores to be engraved by an artisan in calligraphy?

Ha ha, that's pretty much what I said to ebay support. And when I pushed them on why it would take them 4 days to produce a label, they made up an answer because the answer made zero sense. Hmmm...I wonder if the info that you posted about the return shipping cost explains it. The item was $7.95, but the total refund with shipping and tax would be over $21. Maybe ebay calculated that the return shipping costs more that that? Thanks for that information. And thanks everyone else for your help and input on this. It's greatly appreciated.
