Ebay is using some type of Computer programs

To rotate seller exposure, and to control sales......Told this to a Ebay seller before, and he said that would make no sense....My response is......Why does your sales continue day after day......then it stops for days & weeks at a time ?......That makes no sense.......and then it starts back up......Ebay is using a program to control that......Reason ?......Maybe not to flood the market at any one time........Maybe to stop the Top Sellers from getting their 10% fee discount ?......There's a reason & it's real......only Ebay can tell.......and they won't

Listen to man or woman, he/she is speaking the truth. It's clear as day for anyone to see.  If you doubt this, open up your performance and look through your traffic; patterns are there. I'm an engineer, numbers is how i relate things and they do not lie.  They manipulate all accounts, Ebay is the furthest thing from a free marketplace.  You thought you where free to sale here, no you sale what ebay wants and when they want. This is the world you have invested in. I figured this out my first 4-6 months selling here.

@carbideliquidator

If eBay does manipulate exposure, I’d think it is severely limited.  eBay doesn’t really benefit from it - they should actually let the fittest get the most views and sales - don’t spread the wealth.  We have way too many sellers in so many categories.

people like to blame eBay for a downturn in sales - largely because it is easier than looking inward for a solution.

There are so many reasons that sales can drop off suddenly - another seller is running a big sale or amps up his promo percentage, people are busy with being in the outdoors, a selling season ends, or just plain variability in sales.

yes, my activity goes up and down - highly correlated to when I have inventory arrive and can list.  If I get in items that I’ve never before listed, sales take off.  It is not a conspiracy, and it isn’t that complicated.

OMG! eBay is using a computer program!

Of course. How else should they do it?

Someone has to decide what gets shown first. So there are numerous metrics involved. No one knows them for sure. I figure they include quality of seller, pricing, location, ending time and more.

That 'other place' does it differently showing lower priced items as a default. And I hate it.

So, again. How else would you like to see it done?

When you are browsing ads, do you see the similar recommended items down below the main ad you're viewing? That's the algorithm telling you what to look at next. You're right, there is a computer program deciding what sells or gets the visibility. If a seller is doing well selling a lot of items, they get higher visibility in these embedded promotions. But if someone is not doing well, Ebay doesn't show their ads as much.
