Hello,
I am a seller on Ebay. I believe eBay is breaking federal law by over protecting the buyers to keep the profit high.
I sold an item on Ebay. I listed the item as non refundable. The buyer came after 21 days and claimed that the item is not working. By Law buyer has 3 days to claim full refund. Buyer is personable to make sure the item is functioning as intended in reasonable time.
1- I disputed the return and informed ebay that the item was fully functioning and customer confirmed item was in good condition when it arrived. I also informed ebay that we believe buyer broke the item and after used it 21 days decided to return it and by law as a seller i have right not to accept the return. Ebay responded that they can over write any federal law since they are a global company and they have policy promises to customer 30 days money back guarantee. This is braking US federal law.
Even though i didn't accept the return and asked ebay to step up, ebay accessed to my paypal account without my approval, and got money to send the buyers. This is fraud taking money form my account using my personal information without my approval.
I am in process to bring this issue to public's attention also file a complain to BBB.

In a nutshell:
Ebay allows a dispute to be opened within thirty days.
Paypal allows 180 days.
As do many credit card companies.

eBay has been snagging seller's PayPal money since they bought PayPal and got into the "dispute" business. They are still doing it even though the company was sold. This is nothing new, and as pointed out you agree to fund lying buyers and perpetrators of fraud simply by continuing to list items for sale here.

You actually did give them permission to refund the transaction when you listed here subject to their user agreement.

I am not sure what you are talking. eBay can’t force to seller to accept the return (by law). Go and read US laws and regulations. Second of all, accessing my bank/ PayPal account without my approval is fraud. I highly recommend do your home work and search the clas action lawsuit cases similar like this against eBay and the review the results. There is no single case eBay won. Lastly eBay asked to buyer return the item without informing me. I had to go to post office and search the item if it is returned since no body provided me any tracking number.
Guess what ? I check the item and it was actually working perfectly unlike the buyer claimed it is broken . It has been used by buyer badly and there are damages on the item. So I am the one now have to observe the pain and cost of shipping , fees and top of that, the brand new item was damaged. So how come eBay didn’t even account the possibility of I was right and ruled the case against me ? Big time clas action law suit right there against eBay.
Ps. The worst customer service ever, they probably hired many overseas people and tald them to insult the customer until customer give up. Even one of them hung off the phone to my face. Terrible service, terrible customer service and full of scam. Nobody even called me back to resolve issue. Once they close the case no way you can send email to anybody form eBay. They even don’t have any option to send email about and issue. I already send out info to BBB and posted on fb Andy all other social media to make sure nobody (seller or buyer) will use eBay.

This is Ebay's site and their rules prevail. You agree to their rules when you decide to sell here.
Most know how this works; sorry you did not. There is no BBB case. When you refused the return, when you should have accepted it, you made Ebay handle what you were supposed to handle and so you got a very serious case closed without seller resolution defect, which can really hurt your selling privileges and ability.
This is of course absurd. They get away with breaking the law because they contribute huge amounts of money to election campaigns. Look it up. Do use the BBB. At least they have to respond to their criminal actions and then they are documented. You can also leave a feedback on the BBB website which I highly recommend doing.
Most do not know how the rules works. Only part of them. Even eBay CSR's do not. Just try to contact one with a problem. eBay changes rules without informing us of the changes.
