Ebay is automatically lowering the price on sellers items?

I read an article this morning that was about an Ebay seller that was saying Ebay was lowering her selling price. She got a message from Ebay about and item that read "Make sure your item gets sold: Starting 10 days after listing, we'll lower the price (5% every 5 days) until your item sells or gets to $80.99. We'll notify buyers who showed interest each time the price drops. Turn it off anytime by going to your listing." Ebay seems to have a two fold formula for selling "free shipping" and "lower your price". Maybe three fold I forgot about "free returns". That's not much of a business plan and now if Ebay is taking it upon themselves to lower prices that is just unacceptable. Why can't they just be a venue? Why do they have to interfere in our business? I realize there needs to be some ground rules but that needs to be kept to a minimum. Sales stink bad enough as it is and of course it has nothing to do with the things that Ebay is doing. Just ask them they'll tell you.

Yes, ebay does have it, but like they said, if you do not want lower your price, just turn it off.

Don't want free shipping, do not offer it.

Don't want free returnss, do not offer it.

Only thing is you just will not get the same benefits as those who do.

What you refer to as "benefits", most of see as penalties.

Ebay should not be in the business of punishing people for not doing what Ebay wants them to do. Ebay should just be a venue. Granted there should be some basic guidelines but nothing more. Ebay doesn't sell anything and should not try to second guess sellers.

Some may find them helpful, and others will not.

Sorry, but I do agree that it is a punishment when you don't offer Free Returns eBay takes away your Top Rated Plus benefits for that listing.  The other things can be viewed as suggestions you are free to ignore, but for that one you're definitely punished for not following it.

Or you can look at it another way - sellers are rewarded for using it.

Love your positive attitude, but it's hard to see it that way when you had Top Rated Plus status since its inception and it was taken away because you didn't want to offer Free Returns.  Will try to see it your way though, for health reasons!

I do not bang my head against the wall when it comes to ebay, for health reasons as well.

I just go with the flow and as long as it remains profitable, I will just chug along.

what is so funny about this comment is that it is EBAY's site...and they GAVE/GIVE the discounts ...so it is FREE...and GIVEN....SO GUESS WHAT they can take it away too....you didn;'t sign up because you were gven it free and YOU are selling just to get a freebie....so what you get or don't get has nothing to do with how you sell and make money...it a bonus ...and you can get it..or decide it isn't worth it...up to you..  DO you get a discount on shipping?  do you think of that as YOURS, and not a benefit that ebay gave you?...  and don't say oh the FVF on shipping bla bla...we all know why that is...

azs far as using the ebay selling tips or suggestion...no one makes you use them...BUT just maybe some of them would help...ARE YOUR sale so good that you need no more?  send them my way.   THIS is a big site and there are so many variations of sellers and needs/wants.. it can't fit each of us ..and so yes the bigger seller probably benefit more from some of the new stuffr....and some don't.

FREE SHIIPING and RETURNS...EBAY did not invent that...nor were they the leaders of the movement,,,, WE could say Amazon, but Walmart, etc...most have adopted it....and BUYERS WANT WANT WANT it...fast free, next day, today, they want the item fast and cheap....with no hassles to returning it.....THAT IS THE WORLD WE SELL IN>>>> adapt of fade away....for now it is.....

and until you start a web site with your ideas and rules...then you use what you choose to....and seems EBAY is it.....

That is really **bleep**ed up considering the price is not the problem they are manipulating search results and using several variation of promoted listing on search results, product ratings, and closed listing to direct traffic away from your items and store to other sellers items that have paid them to promote listings. Due to the lake of visibility the items don't get seen buy buyers. Then they say try lowering prices but since they are manipulating the traffic away from you lowering the price will not help if the item can be found. Then after your sales drop they suggest paying them 5 to 10 percent of the items price to promote it but the reason it is not getting seen is caused by them. They are pushing the new seller hub with its built in tools for price comparisons because they do not want sellers running searches and seeing how theirs items are being placed and messed with by promoted listings. The change how good till cancelled items are sorted by date so that instead of the resisting date beings used the original listing date is only counted thus pushing the item further and further down in search results. This makes it hard to get sales better use promoted listings. Then when they start using closed listings to promote items they release a glitch causing gtc listings to lose their pictures. Due to the problems with the GTC listing s being buried and losing pictures sellers switch to 30 day listings thus creating a monthly supply of ended listings for them to promote other sellers items but no not yours after all it was your listing. In the past having a large amount of items meant more chances for sales each month. So having a ebay store meant more listings and more sales for both you and ebay to profit off of. Now the more items you list the more likely ebay will target your store and its listings to use to promote other sellers items that have paid them to do so.

Ebay is great I love all of the choices Ebay makes for me it is great when Ebay tells me how to spend my money. Now I do not have to make any decisions and rust Ebay and their partners to tell me what to do and how to think.

No I misspelled trust so that it said rust as a inside joke pointing towards their many glitches and problems lol. The glitch in Ebays spell check is they can not teach it to recognize their own name lmao.

In my opinion, Free Returns is marketing talk aimed at buyers

If you as a seller don't want to accept returns, you don't have to. No change.

What you can't do is refuse REFUNDS.

But that is no change either.

Since the inception of BidPay, and laterPaypal, eBay has forced sellers to refund unhappy buyers.

The seller has a few choices.

He can refuse the return and pay the refund.

He can insist , in cases of Buyer Remorse, that the buyer pay for the return, and pay the refund on arrival.

He can pay for the return shipping, and pay the refund on arrival.

Which in my memory, is how it has been since around 2003, when electronic payments became available.

The only sellers who could refuse refunds were those who insisted on cash (money order, personal cheque) payments.

Which scammy sellers loved, and buyers hated.

Today, sellers who use Cash on Local Pickup are the only sellers who can refuse to refund.

But there is no point in getting knickers in a twist over a long-standing policy that has just been given a new name.

It's like Free Shipping. It's marketing lingo for including the cost of shipping in the asking price for the item.

And buyers love it.
