ebay sucksWhy?
I think the reasons have been discussed in depth here in 2019.
If you've forgotten ... just review the many posts with detailed explanations.
Your opinions I'm very familiar with. I was interested in what the other poster had to say, but thank you.
Why??? Because they like to keep changing things to make it less appealing to list items on their site. The change to the 30-day buy it now, the whole "ebay payment" B.S., the promoted listings that is just another way to squeeze money form sellers. I know you don't have to use the promoted listings, but then do any of your items really get seen? The fact that sellers aren't allowed to get honest feedback about dishonest and horrible buyers. The list goes on and on.
I do not use promoted listings and I'm doing fine. Some assume without them they won't sell anything or very little, but there are many sellers that don't use them and are fine. It is just a choice for each of us to make. There is no right or wrong reason.
Are you familiar with other sites that allow you to publicly shame a buyer? Heck many sites are moving to no buyer FB at all. I wish Ebay would move that direction too.
I am familiar with other sites that allow sellers to give honest feedback about buyers whether is is good or bad. No I don't believe that I "NEED" promoted listings, it just seems very odd how several listings don't show up, even when you type in 3/4 of the title the way it appears on the listing. I have had this happen SEVERAL times to my listings. When I call CS, they don't understand why the listings aren't showing up. I even had one try to sell me on their promoted listing feature saying, "IF you want to make sure your listings are seen, then maybe you should look into using the promoted listing feature.....". So yes, there are many issues ebay has that suck, and seem to be aimed directly at sellers. Buyers will be out there regardless what kind of feedback they get. If it weren't for the sellers, then there would be no buyers, and if there were no buyers, then there would be no site. Ebay needs to focus on their relationship with their sellers, and automatically promote their good sellers, and weed out those that don't make the grade. You do that, then people will think of ebay as a top notch buying platform because they know the sellers are legit, instead of the reputation that ebay has now.
I didn't say that Ebay didn't have any issues nor did I say anything close to that. I talked specifically about promoted listings only. I'm very well aware that there are other issues on Ebay but thank you for your observations too.
As to leaving FB for a buyer. No other major site allows the public shaming of buyers. It is bad business to say the least.

I've notice the thumbs up problem happening from time to time for a few days now.
That pesky authentication problem has been happening a lot the past couple of days. I use to get it every now and again, but it has been a lot, especially today.
I have found that if you hit the back button and then click on the post button again, what I was trying to post goes through.
Grr I hate that message . Now I just copy all my hard work lol ,, and set to reply again . Tulips

You don't have to do that. Just hit the back button and your post will show up on your screen. Then click the post button again and it will post.
It just happened on this post when I tried to post it originally. Now I'm back and adding this note and I'll click the post button again.

I'm a customer more often than I'm a seller [ just ask my husband ] and I couldn't even add an item to my cart this morning without being hypnotized by that spinner thing going around and around until I finally gave up the whole idea. It's no wonder sales are so slow if buyers get put under a spell . 🙂 Tulips

Actually, will likely flame ebay in public media close to the holidays as possible 😉
Get in line - people are always flaming whatever on social media.

I use to be like you, in fact when I came back to ebay over a year ago (cause I was on ebay years ago then left) I was only purchasing, then decided to start selling again since I have mounts of stock. I haven't purchased in awhile, I have items I watched considering buying but when sales are next to none or 1-2 a day it's kinda hard to spare the extra cash to make purchases for things I don't particularly need right now. However I do feel that supporting other sellers is just as important as selling. In any case I have heard numerous people say on the boards here that buyers can't check out and get mails from them saying they want to order something but can't. I personally have no had any buyers mail me with that issue but seems to be a truth and why on earth ebay wouldn't immediately focus all their time/attention to fix that issue is beyond understanding, after all it's them losing out just as much as the seller if someone can't complete the purchase process.

Not sure what you're referring to, as every time this happens to me (which is very often) I hit the back button and it just reverts to the original thread. Then you have to reply again to the post and start over. If you don't have a copy of your post saved, most of the time there is no "auto-saved" draft, so you have to start all over again. Occasionally there will be a draft saved, but who wants to take a chance there won't be.
And ... it just happened as I was trying to reply to you! (I saved a screenshot)
Back for a 2nd try ...
It's just another Red Banner Day at eBay.

Yes, I'm seeing a lot of Technical Issues and haven't even had time to post about them ... don't know where to start there are so many. Even signing-in I get an error message (that eventually clears).
Having a site with this many problems is the best way to clear away your Sales, Customers and Revenue. Hopefully the Interim CEO knows this and puts a "Technical Tiger Team" in place (as I suggested in numerous other posts).
I also think Devon Wenig had The Board under a spell for a long time, and they finally broke that spell this week.

I personally like feedback, as long as it is factual, it is useful to me. If people could leave factual feedback - good or bad - and leave out the personal attacks - all would be well with the feedback system.
As to the glitches, I am surprised that not only have the serious buying glitches that have been hanging around are still here after a week but then there are also new glitches popping up to compound things.
I noticed the techincal complaints started with the mobile app users (which I am not) and then glitches started on our non mobile app side some days later.
Makes me wonder if these glitches have something to do with the mobile site...when they tweak something there, it somehow affects our side?
I will say that I have never seen so many issues on this site at one time ever. I hope they solve this soon.

I'm not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, but I did not know there was a separate site for mobile. I know there is a mobile app which I've read often has its own set of issues, but I thought the app access the Ebay site in a way that was doable with a mobile device. Am I misunderstanding your post or just uninformed on how this works?

Yes I know. But I'm asking in all honesty, I'm not at all trying to pick on you. Your statement says "mobile site". I have not heard that before so I asked the questions I asked above, simply for clarification as I do not know. So are you saying there is a separate site that Ebay maintains that is just for mobile users or was that just the wrong word choice?
