Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

Get this.

I sell one product over 5 years. I have many sweet feedback comments. In my ad i am very specific.  My product may not help 100% of people on earth with a skin problem. Buyer purchases my item It didnt help her " specific issue "  She leaves neg feedback.  I sent same day that she ordered. I offered free shipping. I posted many disclaimers re: product in m y ad. I couldnt have been more clear. Its as if I purchased Crest whitening tooth paste from a seller. I use it and my teeth are still yellow and so I leave a negative feedback for the seller.

I tried the same day to get it removed by all methods. Nope , nope and nope.

Fast forward months later. I order a product from a seller called EZVACUUMS. Its a kit that contains 10 vac bags, 2 filters for the vac and a replacement brush. I saw the ATROCIOUS feedback after I ordered. I attempted to cancel 5 min after ordering on a Friday. No response until Monday from seller. REQUEST DENIED.  It hadnt even been shipped yet. This is an M.O with this seller: amongst other shady things like bait and switch or no sending or missing inventory of order. I received just the brush for $ 60.00 that I paid. Nothing else was in the kit that I received. It wasnt a kit , but a single part. I start a return. I send item back. I leave a negative feedback for this seller. 4 hrs later the neg feedback was removed from her profile. I call ebay to complain. They tell me it was a courtesy removal for the seller. I asked for my neg that I received to be removed then. The answer ?" Its been over 120 days" . I explain that I attempted the same day 120 days ago and was rejected by phone and by automated escalation /dispute.

See any bias here ? See any stupidity in policy here ? Ebay lets criminals steal from ebay buyers and wont allow feedback to warn others, but I cant get mine removed when I am  virtual ANGEL when it comes to my sales. I have given refunds no question asked if requested before I ship out., I have given free product, I have given extra product, etc.

Is it any wonder why Ebay stock and profits are down so drastically and why sellers are leaving in droves?

Disgusting.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

That feedback is not going to hurt you in any way.  Ebay doesn't use them in our monthly evals and buyers will not likely consider it either.

I get how it is infuriating when you view your feedback and see it, but it isn't going to hurt you in any other way.

As for your feedback that was removed for another seller.  It would have had to of breached one of the Ebay rules on feedback.  The Ebay CSR was incorrect in the reason they told you the item was removed as that practiced stopped quite a while ago.  Do you remember exactly what you said?  If you do, I may be able to help you with the reason it was removed.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

Hi,

What I said in the feedback I left was just the truth step by step. No vulgarity, no threats, no forbidden words. Just that they ripped me off, that they have tons of neg feedback from others complaining about the same thing.

Ebay just removed it and no matter what, we all know ebay can say one thing one second and then do the opposite the next sec. Thats ebay. The polices are selective. Did you know..... I can buy my own product, leave negative feedback, then contact ebay to say that the product was damaged and I want a refund, refund myself, then ask ebay to remove the neg feedback that I left for my own product . They wont remove it. Its " buyers experience ", when I AM the BUYER . See its all a stupid game in the end. .  We all pawns.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

Ebay removed it @zero*spot because you broke policy.  Sellers are not allowed to leave negative comments on a buyer's feedback period.  It is in the rules.  You may not like it or agree with it, but it is the rules that all sellers are required to abide by.

"I can buy my own product, leave negative feedback, then contact ebay to say that the product was damaged and I want a refund, refund myself, then ask ebay to remove the neg feedback that I left for my own product ."  No you can't.  This isn't allowed on Ebay and never has been.  If you tried to purchase one of your own items with your ID, it just wouldn't happen.  Now if you were trying to trick Ebay and use a different account and did this.  When or if you got caught, the sanctions Ebay would apply to you would likely be very harsh.

I respect you are upset.  It is just what we all have to deal with since 2008 when they changed the rules on feedback.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

My husband had a feedback extortion case AFTER a buyer refused to return, AND threatened in ebay messages that if he didn't refund him $20, he was going to leave a negative. My husband was going to give in to the scammer and refund, (this was a brand new in package high end Masters shirt that was purchaed 3 days before, he sold ALL of them and no other issue) I told him NO don't do that, He is clearly doing feedback extortion in their policy, if he leaves it we can get it removed no problem. So he listened to me. The guy left a neg, and ebay would NOT remove the feedback! I was floored! So was everyone else, agents who answered were mad at the feedback removal dept, even ebay facebook could not help. Found out the Feedback removal team is overseas with obvious bias against Americans. For this was happening all over ebay.

So my husband had to send this guy $20 to get it removed.  Extortion won.  But I did not stop, I kept pestering the crap out of ebay until I got someone high up, for I wanted his money back! I finally got a supervisor who apoligised profusely, gave my husband his money back, and another $25 for his trouble, but that theif got away with it, no suspension no nothing.  Ebay does not do one thing for sellers. NOTHING.

@sugarnspice777

I am very sorry this happened to your husband.  If it has been less than 60 days since he got that feedback there still may be hope to get it removed.  If you want to private message me for more information, I'd be happy to try and help.

IDK why anyone told you that the Feedback team is overseas.  They are not.  IDK why other CSRs told you that they could not help you after the initial decision, that isn't true either.  Someone gave you some very bad information.

If you got your money back and the seller paid the return shipping, the system worked. Whatever happened to your FB is unimportant, The seller provided customer service to correct his error.

FB is an annoying legacy of the early days of Ebay and pleases no one. It supports the psychological problems of some buyers and sellers.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

I think being a TRS and offering 30 day free returns, comes with a few perks and that might be why they removed the sellers negative feedback and not yours.

Have a great day.

I broke policy?  You say that like you have proof. So, show ,me the proof. I wont hold breath. I would be expired by then. If you TRULY believe that ebay doesn't do crooked things then you are naive.  I spoke with an agent and they told me ( you didnt tell me ) they told me, and ebay employee that it was just the judgement of the appeals agent that ok'd the removal.  I have 10 stories and I bet 100% all ten you would give reasons why it was my fault. Its ok, thats who you are.

eBay doesn't allow negatively worded feedback for buyers...that is why it was removed. You broke the feedback policy for sellers.

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

You state in your listing that it may not work for "some people".

Well one of those people bought it and it did not work for them.

They are unhappy and left you negative feedback.

What's wrong with tha?

Re: Ebay feedback bias sickens me....

Your response created more damage than that silly vanilla neg your buyer left. You could have turned that to your advantage, but didn't. That's too bad.

Ebay does not remove feedback from a buyer or a seller unless it breaches policy.

Now there was a time when Ebay did allow some sellers that had concierge service to have a certain amount of feedback scrubbed each 90 day period.  But thankfully Ebay stopped that practice a while back as that is completely wrong IMHO.

It isn't judgement on appeals it is a real person looking at the feedback verse AI.  The basis for feedback to be removed is stated in the policy.

When do we remove feedback?

Harmful, inappropriate or irrelevant comments and images

We remove all feedback that contains any:

  • Content promoting hatred, violence or discrimination
  • Profane, obscene, adult, illegal, or explicit content
  • Opinions on any political, religious, or social issues
  • Any implied or explicit threats or intimidation
  • Personally identifiable information
  • Links, URLs, or other content encouraging sales outside of eBay
  • Infringement of third-party rights
  • Meaningless content or images that aren’t of the item purchased
  • Comments intended for a different item or seller
  • Negative comments with positive ratings, or positive comments with negative ratings
  • Personal attacks that could harm the reputation of the seller or their business and could not reasonably be viewed as constructive criticism

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/feedback-policies/feedback-policy?id=4208

There are some other reasons in the policy too.  But you admitted to what you did, which breaches the rules and can get the feedback removed.  To much of that as a seller can get you sanctioned too.

While I can see that me telling you this clearly upset you.  I did NOT write the rules.  I was trying to inform you so that in the future you didn't continue to do this and get yourself in trouble with Ebay.  Blaming me for for something YOU did that resulted in Ebay reacting the way they did PER POLICY, isn't going to get you anywhere.

My hope would be for you to learn from this and not do it again.  But of course that is completely up to you.
