Ebay customer service does not solve problems

- Listed my vehicle for sale

- item sold to the highest bidder

- buyer did not respond to any of my contact attempts and did not pay

- I attempted to cancel the transaction

- buyer did not respond to cancel request

- I closed the whole transaction, on the suggestion of an ebay customer service rep

- Because the item initially "sold", I was charged the $125 selling fee

- When the transaction was cancelled and closed, I was "credited" $125 in my ebay account.

I have called ebay customer service 4 separate times over the last week trying to figure out how to get the refund back into my bank account. 3 out of the 4 ebay representatives told me to not worry, and just wait another day for the system to catch up and refund me this money. Still nothing. I called ebay today, and now I am told that I need to wait until the end of December? Meanwhile, $125 of my money is just sitting out in the void, and I'm scrambling to make rent. Ebay customer service SUCKS and they don't help me, but instead just read the same information repeatedly, which is the same information I'm able to access on my own computer. I just want my money back! I did not sell the item, so I should have the $125 refunded to my account! Why am I continuously told to wait, and then find that the money is still not transferred? Am I just being delayed again and again so that ebay never has to pay me my money? This is ridiculous. I'm a broke recent graduate, and I have enough financial troubles as it is. Now ebay is basically just stealing $ from me and refusing to pay. Wish I had a lawyer.

@mirandawiley00

You were charged a $125.00 insertion fee, just like putting an ad in the newspaper.

Sold or not, that is the amount you pay to list a vehicle on ebay, non refundable.

This page might help.

I can't find it right now, but I don't believe that Successful Listng Fee is refundable.  Not sure though.

Incorrect. The representative I called at first said that I absolutely would get a refund because the buyer did not complete the transaction. Then, the second rep I talked to supported that statement, and told me I needed to wait until the next pay period until I recieved the refund. The third rep also supported that statement, and said I needed to wait 1 more day. This fourth rep has also said I will recieve a refund, but that the refund is in credits and not in $, and that I need to wait until the end of December. So I have been told again and again that I will recieve a refund but that I need to wait an ever-increasing amount of time.

lol   I read the motors board every day, it is good for a laugh.

ie  I found a car on CL, ebay will hold the money, the car is in Minot AFB warehouse # 5.

free delivery, and a 10 day test period, free return if you don't like it.

Oh and I am in the military, ready to deploy to Normandy.

Or my son died and the car breaks my heart.

or I caught hubby with the babysetter.

No, motors insertion fees are not refundable.

Unless those Reps are well versed in Motors policies, they may not have given you correct information.  Policies in Motors are considerably different than the main site.  You may want to ask on the Motors board:

@mirandawiley00

I may be incorrect, or ebay may have told you what you want to hear.

Post this over on the motors board.

I have to go to work now.

But I would like to know the outcome.

I have my fingers crossed for you.

ebay billing is at the first of the month, or the middle of the month, mine is the 15th.

So if I get a credit say on the 17, it will not show until the 15th of the next month.

Like I said put this on the motors board, it is not a real busy board, so it won't get knocked off.

But the guys over there buy and sell cars, and they will give you good advice.

I have never heard of insertion fees being refunded, but stranger things have happened.

CS is telling you tomorrow, end of the month, next tuesday.

Motors has different rules than regular ebay, and often the CS is not trained real good.

@sockmonkeydave Nope. Listing is free. The $125 is a successful listing fee on a listing that ends with a bid or BIN.

Yeah, but that's the issue! I kept being told that I'd get refunded in cash, and now I'm getting a useless account credit ?

@mirandawiley00  Call eBay, escalate the call, and ask for a refund of your credit balance. It takes as long as 30 days and will be credited to your original payment source. https://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/refunds.html

Yo can check the Help Pages and the Motors Board, but:

Motors bids are not binding.

The listing fee is non refundable.

Just some thoughts, you might want to confirm, but I see other posters agree wit this.

Sorry for your experiences.
