Ebay changing shipping label preferred payment method, yet again.

Had this issue last year with ebay changing and taking label cost out of funds instead of my preferred payment method and allowed it to go on for a month before I caught it. Just caught it again this month on the 16th of this month and just again today. Its conveniently at the very bottom of the page where you don't see it when creating a label. Might want to keep a close eye on it if you're like me and prefer paying with a credit card to get rewards. I'm sure its purely accidental on ebay's part.

This is not a change but how it has worked since Ebay became our Money Processor.  We have a choice, either you can pay for your shipping via your Managed Payment account or your PayPal account.  Those are the two options and those have always been the two options.

When you select an option it stays sticky [your default] until such day as you change it.

Mine was changed once way back when.

I check each and every time I purchase a label.

Fool me once...................................  we all know the rest of that one😁

Re: Ebay changing shipping label preferred payment method, yet again.

I just pay with my funds.  Far simpler for me.  Where it gets the money doesn't really matter in the overall picture.  But if it has to use a funding source, it will pull from my linked bank account used for deposits.  My paypal is not linked to my selling account in any fashion.  I use a separate bank account for just my eBay sales.

Re: Ebay changing shipping label preferred payment method, yet again.

I send out thousands of packages a year. I know how and when it changed. It randomly will toggle back to funds instead of paypal is the issue. In the past it was years before it happened to me. I never had to switch to funds it was also left on paypal. I spend a lot on shipping and using my credit card can make me a decent chunk of change. Its already annoying enough when they took away the option to use ebay shipping for Fed Ex/UPS (where it routinely costs $50-$100 per package) and pay with the credit card, having them change my chosen provider at random is a tad shady. It should either toggle back every time I print a label or not at all, not do it randomly whenever it feels like it.

Re: Ebay changing shipping label preferred payment method, yet again.

It has happened three more times since this post. I contacted ebay and they said its a known bug they are working on. Even happened to me half way through shipping a dozen or so packages after 3 days of not having to change preferred payment to paypal.

Re: Ebay changing shipping label preferred payment method, yet again.

I noticed it also.... But it took a couple weeks for me to notice/remember to switch it back. Frustrating for sure..... Glitch? Maybe... eBay wanting to control the money and pay less processing fees.... Probably.   I also use PayPal and use a credit card to get the cash back......it adds up when you ship 300-400 package per month. I hate how eBay forces us to use funds to pay for ups and fedex- that is general the larger/heavier/more expensive packages that we no longer get our cash back on from the credit card( basically amoints to 2% fee hike from eBay)
