Hi, Thanks for reading this. I had a return started with the reason being doesn't fit. I didn't think I was opted into ebay "easy returns" but low and behold I just get the message that a return has been approved per Ebay's return policy and there really isn;t anything I need to do or able to do in response as there aren't any options to say that it is past the date for a return based on my policy. I guess Ebay automatically accepts the return even though it is past my return policy date? It seems I have no option. It says retun started. I guess others have experienced this.

Call up ebay and ask for a supervisor , and let them them know the return is opened passed 30 day returns . Call ASAP.

This is wrong....any time a buyer requested a return from us that was past the 30 day window, the software had a option for us to refuse the return. Hopefully customer service can sort it out for you. You should have a choice! Please let us know what they say and if this is yet another "glitch".

I agree with you. It looks like the system bots are on the 60 day return policy time frame regardless if seller does the 30 day return policy. It will take OP couple of phone calls to close it in their favor. OP should call up ebay a half hour before they close to get a U.S. Rep on the phone.

@mgreco992012 I wouldn’t be so fast to call customer service. It appears your return policy is out of date. You can no longer have a 14 day return policy. If the buyer requested the return within 30 days of the item being delivered, then it was within the return period because 30 days is the minimum return period now.

The OP appears to have missed the spring and summer seller updates, because their return policy appears to be 14 days still. So it looks like seller error not eBay error. The return was accepted because he accepts returns and it was within the 30 day minimum return period.

hey since you don't really seem to know what your policies are...first look them up and be sure you are following the current ebay policies...check the seller updates ...lots have been changing in recent months....that would be the first step......

Thanks for the replies. I believe it was a 14 day policy when 14 day policy was allowed. I manually changed everything to 30 days when that became the norm or at least I thought I had. This was for a listing started in late may or early June. Not sure why they would allow a 14 day return policy when i set the listing if at that time it was 30 days minimum for a return policy and I wasn't prompted to update my policy because it became invalid during the time of me listing the item. As I can see it is my fault either way and also my fault it didn't fit the buyer. Thanks to all for the replies I appreciate the information and help.

If the item sold on or after June 1st, then the 14 day return policy didn’t apply.

Thanks Jen. I would have thought that if that policy was no longer valid it would have prompted me at that time or not been an option. Nevertheless it is my fault regardless. Thank you.

Hi, jen. I rely a lot on your posts and great information. When June 1 hit, I listed a clothing item through my 3rd Party AW2K. I got a message back problem with listing with code numbers in my program, but it was ACCEPTED by eBay. I called my vendor with the codes and his reply:
June 4: "According to the ebay API documentation if you try to list an item using a 14 day return period and the category does not support it, the listing will be rejected. However, enforcement does not begin until August."
I bring this up because I asked long ago what would happen if I have something listed at 14 after June 1, and it sells with 14 day. And what would be my liability if, in fact, the bots follow the 30 after the sale? I never got an answer except the above quote from my vendor. I have been perusing around a lot of active listings and sellers still have 14 days in clothing and 14 in the standard Pottery categories (not collectibles or art).
So does this mean the bots are automatically (after June 1) changing up a seller's return policy without the seller knowing about it? Sorry if I am rambling, but again has there been a notice that ebay will auto change your return? I can see if ebay did not accept the listing but ebay listed mine. I went back in and dutifully revised mine to the 30 for clothing worried ebay would just randomly put me in 30 day free, or even 60. And I haven't tested out putting up a new clothing item and putting in 14...I BETCHA it will be accepted.
My note here goes hand in hand that if you use a category that eBay feels "doesn't fit" they will just auto put it where they think it will fit. My question again: will the seller be notified at the initial listing or just find out later that it was moved? That is supposed to happen I think in September. Just my thoughts.

Why would you think it was your fault that the item didn't fit? That is buyer remorse. Unless you were way off on your measurements, but probably not.

Some have received a message stating Return Policy deprecated, as in no longer available.
