So I just received an email from the friendly folks at ebay informing me that they just allowed buyers to make offers on 2 of my BIN items. The email stated that those items hadn't received the number of views they thought it should have, so adding the best offer would help.
If I wanted to accept offers, I would have set it up that way initially.
It is really frustrating that ebay is changing our listings based on what 'they' think. What will they do next? Change the price and the terms?
I did revise the items and removed the offer feature. Will be interesting to see if they change it again. Hopefully not.
Is there a setting somewhere I've missed that prevents them from doing this?
Thanks. 🙂

I am very displeased and annoyed by eBay adding Best Offers to my listings. I have been selling on eBay for almost 20 years and this is the first time I have been so unhappy with their actions that I'm considering closing my store. I want to be able to set my own prices and I do use the Best Offer feature on some items. If they want to suggest changes to make my listings sell faster or for a higher price, fine, but don't do it for me. I have had to go in and manually change the best offer part on three batches of listings this week. I know more will be coming. It's time consuming and makes me even more livid with each one I have to fix.
I called eBay twice this week and spoke to three people about the situation. The first said they had received a number of calls and were working on it. The two people I spoke with today basically said, "We're trying to help you sell things faster. You can just decline the offers." I find this unacceptable. It sends a bad message to potential buyers if I decline their offers because I didn't intend to accept offers on particular items in the first place. The customer service people said there is not a way to opt out of having my listings changed. Few of my items sell in 7 days. (I use 7-day auction and 30-day buy it now.)
This is generally my best month for sales. I saw a drop earlier this year that I think was related to fires and hurricanes, but it has been better lately. I would hate to have to put my store on vacation during the peak holiday season (but I'm seriously considering it) or pull my items as the listings end and sell them on another platform.
I have been a huge fan of eBay for two decades and it really pains me to even think of leaving. I count on this income to at least pay part of my health insurance. Now I'm also worried that because of this there will be a movement to boycott eBay, which will not help any of us.
I don't know what else I can do but keep calling. Any suggestions?

eBay has been acting like a fool lately. Between the autobot messages acting like a paranoid schizophrenic on crack in regards to off eBay transactions to adding best offer to BIN's for kicks, they are acting like idiots and peeving off buyers and sellers alike in droves. Keep it up eBay and we can all have an implosion party when you finally collapse and we'll buy the supplies for it on the River.

Yes sir, thanks for bringing that to our attention. Their stupidity is growing by leaps and bounds.

I have been selling on eBay for almost 20 years
Oh, you must be mistaken (<---largest size available sarcasm font) because more than one ebay blue employee has emphatically stated:
this is a part of the Best Offer changes we made last month. These only apply to new and occasional sellers and serve to increase the chances of a successful sale while also introducing new members of our Community to the Best Offer feature.

Since when has ebay told the truth since 2008?
Cut off the chinese sellers and then see how fast things sell. Who wants to wade thru pages of their junk?
