This is why I left eBay years ago. They never side with the seller who makes them the money!
Buyer returned a dirty, broken version of what I sent him and said it was damaged in shipping. It was so obviously dropped..and filthy! It actually smelled! And it is a figurine!
Now I am out $80. Ebay still sucks. Never again!

Okay, I get that you have had it and that eBay is not for you. I understand, but to then go on to social media, after you close your account, and any other sources that you mentioned to rant on the ills of eBay, you may want to think about it.
You are possibly hindering many people and their incomes. Me for instance. It will not hurt eBay. I appreciate your unhappiness, but not the need to bad mouth the platform to try to encourage people not to use it. You need to breath and find your center.
To you moving forward wherever you may land,
Grandma

They most certainly ARE NOT. You really are out of the loop "after so many years not using"...

First off, you are WAY out of the loop, and completely uneducated how eBay works. Did you bother to read the TOS? I can tell from your rant, you haven't.
You are free to complain to anyone you want to, but it's going to do you NO good except to further tick you off. This issue boils down to YOU not understanding the platform, OR your duties as a seller. ANY platform you sell on is going to expect you to perform certain duties, and give a certain level of customer service. If you are not willing to conform to the platform's TOS, then you better just plan on having a big ol' yard sale. As buyers, EVERYONE expects certain levels of protection. Like you have just learned, your duties as a seller do NOT end when you hand off the package to the carrier. Like it or not, that's how it works on ALL platforms. Like it or not, ALL CC companies give consumers protection. Like it or not, processors like PayPal, give consumers protections.
So if you can't deal with that, you are better off avoiding ANY online platform and moving to yard sales/flea markets and selling for cash only. Any time a CC is involved, the sale never is over at the point of sale. There is no "all sales final" on ANY sale involving a credit card, period.

You did: you agree to the buyers guarantee by selling on eBay:
Ebay is not law enforcement: if you received a different item then file with law enforcement for fraud and theft.
Also file a report of the buyer with ebay for abusing the return refund process.

You have quite a few listings still up. I doubt that you are going anywhere.

I feel for you because you seem so confused about so many things.
