Ebay adds to my sales? So confusing...

I sold 2 items to the same person in England.  Total was $166. + 17.00 shipping...total $183....right?  Except in my ebay it says the sale was $219!  Apparently ebay adds $36.60 VAT (ebay collected) to the sale.....and then they take their final value fee on the $219..... BUT my sale was for $166...i have $153 processing.....and when the package is delivered, i will have to pay another $13 for the label.....yet the order says i sold these for $219.....and when i called, i got dizzy listening to them trying to explain to me how a $166 sale turned into a $219 sale with only  $153 processing........

That Value-Added Tax (VAT) is something taxable from Europe. It's a tax the buyer pays, has nothing to do with you as the seller.

Sounds very similar to the state sales tax the eBay collects and sends to the right state, yet we pay FVF on the tax amount too because eBay managed the payment for us.
