Ebay USPS Shipping Label Error

I purchased a USPS Priority Mail label last night and tracking on Ebay's and USPS site states the item was received in Virginia at 2:31 AM. This is impossible! I am holding the package in my hand! What is wrong? How to fix?

The most likely explanation is that you entered the wrong tracking number.

No error there.

I'm not sure if this would be a ebay issue or a USPS issue?

I think I would first  contact the USPS.

It will be interesting to hear what they say.

Not sure what's going on with your label showing scanned in VA when your listing says shipping from NJ, but that's definitely odd since you still have the package. I have seen similar events - like situations where the wrong buyer's address appeared on a label and stuff like that so this could be similar where data was somehow swapped when the label generated.

I would void the label and purchase a new one @chpgts . You can purchase another label through the order actions menu.

To void a USPS shipping label purchased through eBay, go to this page, find the order and select Void from the Actions drop-down. The void option is available for 5 days.

It takes between 2-4 weeks to receive a refund on an unused, voided USPS label. You'll see the refund on your original source of payment (bank, credit card, etc) and the funds will appear in your account without an email notification.

Because of this odd situation I would contact eBay CS reps through askebay on twitter or ebayforbusiness on facebook letting them know you're concerned about the void being accepted since the tracking appears to be tied to another seller's label somehow. Make sure they'll credit you for the label in case USPS rejects the void.

Once the package has a acceptance scan, the label cannot be voided. Tried anyway and would not allow,

In the past I have seen ebay glitches swap names, addresses, and even user ID's.  So not too far a stretch to think ebay messed up a tracking number.

Ebay phone reps may not understand this, so I would private message with the details to:

Contacted USPS and it takes 3 days for an answer. I guess the buyer just has to wait. I will get a defect for someones elses mistake. Called Ebay and escalated case after insisting they do so. Was placed on hold and disconnected. Called back and had to repeat everything again. The rep insisted it was not their problem and told them they needed to refund the shipping so I could reprint another label. Had disagreement with Ebay rep not caring about sellers and buyers problem that they caused. Finally after about 10 minutes he got sick of me and refunded the $7.20 shipping fee. I only care about getting the customer what they wanted. I hate to argue but when I believe I am right I will not back down!

As suggested, purchase another label, and get your item shipped.

You will need to get with USPS, or eBay to make them aware of the error to possibly get a credit on the label.

I contacted USPS and filed a formal complaint and never got any answer other than to complete a survey asking how the USPS did resolving the complaint. I answered that I never was contacted about the complaint and no one from USPS did a follow up to the survey.

I did call Ebay that same day and demanded that the shipping be refunded because I knew that voiding the label would only get me a denial. I argued with the Ebay agent and finally after asking for a supervisor I got the refund on the postage in less than a minute. I was not going to end the call until I got the refund. I been lied to by agents before and It was not going to happen this time.  Moral of story DO NOT TAKE any guff from a Ebay rep when you know the cause was not yours.
