Ebay Search Engine down ... wow

Ebay Search Engine down ,  it has been reported to ebay , it was stated to me that its a known issue , hopefully they get it up soon

If Ebay's search engine were to be down, no one would be able to search for anything on Ebay.  Are you unable to use the site?

It's been ongoing for months, periodically, and seems to be category specific. Also, sometimes the search yields results that have nothing to do with the search query. Or, sometimes it only shows foreign listings, like in the UK or Canada. Or, sometimes it only shows a tiny fraction of what's actually listed, and when adding a filter it shows almost nothing to nothing. Or, sometimes you can search best match and then change the results using one of the sorting options, and it shows an entirely different set of results and the number of results in entirely different. 

My theory is they're caching or mirroring search results by category and sort option, then periodically onlining the mirror as they test new money grabs, with a couple of nice features that may work one day mixed in.

The searches have done that for years.  This is not new and isn't by category.  The OP is saying the search was down.  For it to be "down", it means it can't be used.  If that were to happen, no one would be able to search for anything on the site.

What's wow about it? it's been like this for quite sometime. I would say wow when they fix it😃
