Ebay Open 2023 Phoenix CLOSED???????

I was trying to sign up for Ebay Open 2023 live in person in Phoenix. It now says it's closed.  How can it be closed already? And if there are that many people interested then the space capacity should be increased. It's the only in person gathering in the western united states. Doesn't make any sense from a planning perspective. Very discouraging and defeating the purpose of Ebay Open.

Have you considered the possibility that eBay Open 2023 may not be the ONLY thing happening in Phoenix near the end of September?  Hotels and convention centers plan as well as they can with the organizations they contract with -- in this case, eBay.  It is extremely possible that there simply is no additional space capacity available!

Speaking of planning, I think I registered to attend the virtual events of eBay Open at least two weeks ago.  And lots -- lots -- of other eBay users have done the same thing.

Seems to me that both you and eBay have learned a lesson that I hope you will put into practice next year.

please I am still waiting on my swag bag from years ago and I signed up day 1. Why would someone need a hotel room, this is eBay, one of the biggest platforms in the world and no room for walk-ins ?

Event venues have fire codes that need to be followed. In most cases, they sell as many tickets as the venue has capacity and they legally can't exceed that number.

I live in San Diego.  I have driven to and from Phoenix a couple of times.  It's several hours on the road.  Sure, I guess I could fly, but I like to have my own wheels when I can.

Not sure about the "need" of it, but I would certainly want a hotel room for both the night before even a one-day gathering of hundreds of people (such as eBay Open) and the night after, so I have a place to sleep comfortably, stay current with my favorite TV news channel, bathe, get dressed on my own timeline, etc.

Obviously, your mileage varies from mine.

I guess it would be air conditioned and since it is lately 100+ degrees every day there...heck...I go there just to be in the air conditioned building.

Sadly the event center would not shut down their main area for eBay's Open.
Chuck E Cheese would only rent out their party room.
You should have bought your tickets earlier.

there are lots of hotels. I've been late scheduling many events, no need to stay in the actual hotel the event is in. This is eBay open, we are their customers. Get it done. No different than the absurd hoops and standards eBay places on sellers.

I get what you are saying, not saying it's not the simplest solution but hey, if that's the case state, 100 seats, 1st come 1st serve. Not this arbitrary behavior. And walk in, they should always be accepted.

Its unprofessional, fly by the seat of my pants behavior. It's bizz as usual here at eBay as far as I am concerned. Not 1 eBay open has happened as stated since the advent of lazy, post covid behavior.

As far as I am concerned, close it down or get back to grown up in person events.

Its far more productive to just watch their training videos, get answers from the boards and the weekly/monthly eBay chats etc.  I see better answers from you and other experienced posters than this canned "...thanks for the question....will contact tech and get back with you..." from eBay.

well, I set up at the biggest shows in the country. I know how many spaces there are, rules are expressed. So, are you speaking for eBay this is a fire code issue? ebay states the millions upon millions of active sellers and cannot use the super-duper algorithm to estimate how many late participants there will be?

Sorry you didn't sign up in time to be able to get in...........but I find it odd that you would expect (demand?) that they increase the capacity because you couldn't get in.

Re: Ebay Open 2023 Phoenix CLOSED???????

I purchased my ticket for this event on August 1st.  that is when registration for this event opened.  For you to be upset that that event is closed already.  It is 30 days after registration opened.  Most events like this fill up within the first few days.    I am sure that you can still register for the virtual part of this event.

Oh no. I was going to use the profit from last month sales to attend.

Re: Ebay Open 2023 Phoenix CLOSED???????

You may have misunderstood.  It isn't the event that is closed, it is the ability to buy a ticket that is closed.  I believe they have been sold out for awhile.
